I think Don Draper can teach people why cheating occurs. It can be very hard to be completely fulfilled by one person intimately. People compartmentalize their lives more and more. Their spouse knows them a certain way and maybe a co-worker knows them in a completely different way. So they have two lacking relationships that make up one whole relationship. Sometimes it's not about falling out of love or similar. But yeah, it all goes back to communication, honesty and openness.. which aren't easy to attain with one person at all. I have a hard time with it myself.

Honestly, I think one of the worst things about cheating is the dishonesty, not the sex. I just watched this couple from my group get married (he's the "friend," not her), and we all just sat there and watched him pledge his love and fidelity to her knowing the whole time that he has cheated on her in the past, several times. The fact that I could be the last one to know about something going on with my partner--that there's a part of his life that is being kept a secret from me on purpose--is horrifying. That's what I don't think I could get over.

I try to be open-minded and non-judgmental about others' relationships but sitting in the church that day, it really bothered me.

@allinadaysquirk: Oh my, I had the same exact experience. I was at their wedding (he's my friend, not her) and I know for a fact he's hooked up with others before and during their engagement. And I'm sure he will continue to do so now that they're married. I hate hanging out with her, because I know things she doesn't, but I can't tell her.
