I still think the original reference was a typo for the 'Fashionista' blog as there is waaaay too much interesting thoughtful content on "Fatshionista" for it to have much crossover with "sparkly! jumping! rich person's name on my stuff!" Vogue (or Fashionista for that matter).

I refuse to buy a magazine that is devoted to dismissing my body type as something disgusting.

I also like magazines I can READ. Newsweek. Time. The Atlantic. Columbia Journalism Review. Even..yes, I admit it...Readers' Digest (although the last holds great childhoood memories of reading with my grandmother).

I'm wondering if Wintour really isn't the problem, now. Generally I enjoy her icy persona ("I want people to be scared of me!"- Patsy Stone) but now I wonder if it's her overabundant caution and 'conservatism' that's made Vogue so dull.

The single thing that clinched it for me was yesterday's post on The September Issue. Even in the blurry screencap (kindly provided), you could tell that 1920's Meisel tableau was a stunning photograph. And Wintour killed it for what? Dullsville.

Wintour's mantra about why US Vogue isn't as adventurous as foreign editions is ringing increasingly false. I see no reason why American readers can't take gorgeous photography, they don't need everything dumbed down like a catalogue. Things have changed since Wintour was installed, American tastes have become more sophisticated in the last decade, I think. The Internet a huge part of this, a phenomenon that Wintour famously dislikes. Maybe she really is the problem at this point.

When I was a teenager I decided that I wasn't going to pay for a bunch of advertising - about the same time I decided that if someone wanted their name on my ass or my chest they were going to have to pay me.

I've been a subscriber since I was 13 and I'm finding it soooo tiresome. It's the "Britishness" of it. Calling pants "trousers", sweaters "jumpers", skinny jeans "drain pipes". Plum Sykes new hunting outfit. Sienna Miller, Kiera Knightly, et all constantly on the cover. This is American Vogue- could we have some American writers? My love of Vogue peaked during the supermodel era, so I am probably just old and cranky...

I like the fashion layouts in Vogue but I could care less about what Plum Sykes thinks of well anything. And I def couldn't care less about what the socialite du jour needs to prepare for her Hamptons dinner party. Vogue has pigeon holed itself into a very specific market that caters to a very select, wealthy, white group of people. Can they really expect to keep up sales when they seem to pride themselves on being pretentious?
