I just think it would have been lovely to see this presentation in the main broadcast. Now it'll only get a 30-second mention with a sound bite or two. I have to wonder why they changed it. It has to be either for time or for whatever crackpot new "format" they've come up with (think last year and the genre thing they tried to do).
@BestEuphemismEver: female. From the movie "Liars (A-E)" which features a twenty-something named Bacall retrieving lost items from her ex-boyfriends while on her way to President Barack Obama's inauguration. I got only midway through before I decided it wasn't worth finishing. Naturally, it's being made with Rebecca Hall (Vicky Christina Barcelona) starring and Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused) directing. #laurenbacall
About ten years ago, I was in biology class, super excited about the upcoming awards, and sketching the little statue in the margins of my notebook. When the bio sub, an elderly woman, walked by, she looked shocked and admonished me: "There will be NO drawing of naked men in biology class!!!"
@JennaW: dangnabit! you beat me to it - though I was going to go with nominate a woman director, but once the jokes out there the rest are just copies. #gayleetcheverry
Are clefts more prevalent in India than other countries? I seem to remember other organizations, such as Operation Smile, working a lot in India as well. Or is it more of a stigmatizing social issue in India than it is in other countries? Whatever the case, I admire the volunteers of these organizations so much for providing a new chance at life for these children.
@marshmallory wants to gobble and prance.: It is slightly more prevalent in South Asian countries (some studies say about 1% more than rates in North America). And while advances in prenatal nutrition have lowered numbers in other countries, the prevalence is remaining steady in developing countries.
You know what would make that girl even happier? A sugar-free red bull, bleached hair and extentions, a vintage Juicy swimsuit and a shit ton of eyeliner.
Knowing that there are places in the world that you have to walk three hours to get to a hospital makes me re-think all the bitching I have been doing about not having medical insurance.
@IBleedGlitter: The High Priestess of Tinsel: this is not a bad point, but you shouldn't feel bad about being upset about not having coverage. That is a totally legit thing to bitch about in my book, esp if you live in a developed nation.
@SmallbutMighty: @Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: True, it's definitely something worth bitching about, but it's slightly jarring when you think about how many people are in way worse situations. It makes me want to shut up a bit haha. It also make me appreciate people like those in the article who do so much good for those who need it. I sometimes forget that not all people are giant douchenozzles.
