    Aw - I've watched these so many times I don't have to view the clip. My (late) father bought them for Mom and she handed them down to me. No way in hell am I watching another Hollywood bastardization of classic Brit TV.

    I disagree strongly with this remake, but I think the world would be a better place, sometimes, if everyone could be exposed to truly terrible comedy that also comes out of England. Let's sit down and watch Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps or My Family for 6 hours and then maybe we can stop venerating England's comedy. They dick things up too, just in a different way. They can't afford to remake popular American shows the way we can afford to remake theirs, but believe me, if they could, they would have their own atrocities to atone for. (Like their remake of That 70's Show, Days Like These, which made That 70's Show look like Marx Brothers-level genius.)


    There is some really great stuff that's come out of the UK in the past couple of years--not just the Mighty Boosh and The Office and Peep Show and Green Wing but stuff that only ran for a series of 6 episodes like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace or Nathan Barley. The flip side of the 6-episodes-at-a-time idea is that there are also many, many, many terrible comedies that get these little runs and don't get picked up again either.


    Basically, you know how terrible Andy Millman's sitcom "As the Whistle Blows" is in series 2 of Extras? Yeah, there are lots of comedies on UK TV that are actually like that.


    So next time you get up in arms about the newest crappy remake of a British comedy, remember, if they could afford to do it back to us, they so totally would.

    I LOVE the original AbFAb. The clever, dry British humor suited this show perfectly. By the time it is 'cleaned up' for American audiences, this remake will flop and flop big. In order to make this show acceptable for our market they're going to have to rip the soul right out.


    I don't plan on watching one single minute of this travesty.

    There are certain things that the Brits just do better than us. Bumbling clueless and quick-tempered hotel managers is one; insanely drunk and hilarious approaching-the-hill fashion ladies is another.


    This is unneccessary. Just buy sindication rights for AbFab and put it on network TV!

    I'm not familiar with the other woman, but Kristen Johnson is really funny and I could see her being great as Patsy. Pilots aren't always a good reflection of how good the series will be, either, and this contraband script might not even be a final draft. I'll remain optimistic about this project for now.

    I want to say i wil watch and i may but i dont think i will like it. It's just not the original.

    like last night i tried to watche Scarlett, the sequel to GWTW. Nope. Checked out within 10 minutes.

    There can be no replacement for the original on this. I'm sorry, but the scene where Patsy has burned down Edina's kitchen and then sits up, cigarette still in her mouth, covered with soot, hair a mess....that moment can never be remade. Just like Steve Carell will never do the David Brent dance from The Office.


    They should just stop while there's still time. There are icebergs ahead, Captain Smith. Big ones.

    Wait, wasn't there already an American ripped-off version starring Cybil Shepherd a few years back? Wasn't it called Cybil? Christine Baranski played the boozy, Patsy character. They drank, did inappropriate things, and said the most horrendously un-PC things? I seem to remember that that was considered the American version of Ab Fab back in the day.
