As we all know, the PARKA was invented by the INUIT. The Inuit live in ALASKA, and can see RUSSIA from their HOUSES. Russia is the birthplace of STALINISM, which proves that Obama has a RADICAL SOCIALIST AGENDA.
@Cairn: Imagine our great country is a TREE. Now imagine a SQUIRREL riding a UNICYCLE of TERRORISM plucking ACORNS and BERRIES from the tree.
Those are OUR acorns people. (Sniff)
OUR berries. (wipe tear from eye)
So remember. If you let squirrels on unicycles touch your berries and nuts, YOU are supporting terrorism.
YOU are killing our TREE.
Socialism.
Terrorist.
911.
Hitler.
Vietnam.
If you spell PARKA, take off the A, is PARK. What are in parks? Oak trees. Oak trees get you ACORNS. PARKA-PARK-OAK TREE-ACORN.
Also, a park is a public place. Just like a city square. The largest square in the world is the RED SQUARE, which is in RUSSIA, where STALIN LIVED. PARKA-PARK-SQUARE-RED SQUARE-STALIN.
Thus, Obama is supporting the communist organization ACORN in order to rule America in a Stalinist movement, complete with hammer and sickle.
In other news, President Obama wore noise-cancelling headphones on the way home yesterday, suggesting he likes his plane rides as he likes his fashion critics: quiet.
I hope that Liliane Bettencourt's daughter succeeds in managing the finances and more than that I hope her mother doesn't hate her for it. As someone who has taken care of two sets of grandparents I know how terrible it can be to have to remove some of their responsibilities and how much they dislike it. Giving 1.5 billion dollars worth of cash and art to a photographer seems like a warning sign. (On a side note, 1.5 billion, for the sake of fuck that is a lot of money)
While I understand what Christopher Kane says, and to a point agree with him, I find the sentence people can say what they want about anyone on a blog without consequences and that's quite scary a bit scary.
Like when Cathy Horyn was critical about a designer show (i forgot which one) and was refused admission the season after that? Like when Dana Thomas (who wrote the terrific and critical book about fashion, Deluxe) was refused at the door of the Louis Vuitton show? Those kind of consequences? I hope not.
I suppose the Gosselins have now officially passed over the mantle of "current crude paparazzi magnets" to the Salahi's. Just in time for the whole Christmas-New Years party season too.
So... here goes:
This spring, on TLC, tuck in your kids, settle in with your remote, and prepare yourself for the awesomeness that is:
"Party Crashers: Michaele and Tareq".
No one can stop them.
No one can keep them out.
They have the culturally relevant outfits.
They brought the hedge trimmers and step ladder, just in case.
And they're READY TO CRASH*!
*In case of technical difficulties, we will use photoshop. Badly. Look at Michaele's facebook if you don't believe us.
I was looking in the WWD spring 2010 magazine the other day and saw that photo of Garancé, Scott and Tommy in the front row of...I believe D&G. All with their laptops. It was weird. As much as I love their blogs (especially Jak & Jil), it takes some getting used to, having bloggers so entrenched in the fashion world. I love it and also feel a strange resistance to the change.
@hortense: The Lucy in Disguise in Austin is a costume shop. Probably one of the most elaborate costume shops in the south, too. They are my #1 stop for wigs, because I always find I need several throughout the year.
Part of me is exasperated at all the very young, white, privileged fashion bloggers that have risen to fame (Cory Kennedy is the obvious, but also Alexi Wasser from imboycrazy.com, and I know there are others whose names/URLs I cannot recall), so am kind of meh about hearing news about Tavi Gevinson.
That said, having just read her blog, she comes across as wide-eyed and adorable- reading her reaction over meeting Chloë Sevigny and not meeting Hedi Slimane, she seems as much an excitable fourteen year old as anyone, privilege and extraordinary circumstances notwithstanding, I guess.
@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: What is her privilege, exactly? I've been wondering for a while how she gets her hands on such extraordinary clothing at such a young age. Are her parents in the fashion world?

Also, Trashy Fame Whore, back off the David Yurman. His stuff is actually really nice, and far too classy for the likes of you.

ETA: apparently her dad is a 'high-school teacher,' but no comment on what her mum does.
