Slate's Adrienne So talked to some scientists and found out that a "D-cup in a low-support bra can travel as much as 35 inches up and down (35 inches!) during exercise." Ms. So followed this knowledge to its logical conclusion: someone should be engineering a bra that harnesses breast movement and converts it to energy. She talked to a number of different engineers about possible ways to create this sort of bra using things like "nanowire technology." "Maybe it's not very sexy to see breasts as a pair of batteries," So reasons. "But oil prices are so high, people are jogging to work. It may be time for breasts to start pulling their own weight."
