  • Someone at Selfridges has a terrible eye. After suspending an Alexander McQueen dress from what looked like a hangman’s noose, the U.K. department store chain Tweeted a non-apology-apology saying any offense caused was unintentional. The display has been removed. [CocoPerez]
  • Remember Julien Macdonald? He’s the designer judge of Britain’s Next Top Model who explained that “there were no plus-size models” on the season just wrapped, because “this is a serious show. You can’t have a plus size girl winning — it makes it a joke.” And who furthermore explained: “A catwalk model is a [UK] size 6 to 8.   • Pity Sacha Walckhoff, the man who is to succeed Christian Lacroix at the hollow shell of a licensing company that now bears his name. The Swiss-French designer worked under Lacroix in various roles from 1992-2000, and again from 2003 until the company was forced to declare bankruptcy last year. “The last two years have been very painful,” says Walckhoff. “There was no money, and there was no harmony.” However: “The Falic brothers proposed that we go on, and I believe that the brand can succeed. It’s a personal conviction,” he says. “When you mention ‘Christian Lacroix,’ people open their eyes wide with excitement. But no one believes that they can actually own Lacroix.   • Prada has taken out a $454.8 million three-year loan, which it will use to finance existing debt and fuel its growth, the company says. The company, a perpetual stock tease, again says it is considering an IPO. [WWD]
  • Oh, the gimmicks that magazines will go to to affirm their position as printed textual artifacts. 3-D editorials! Scratch-off logos that reveal cover models’ naughty bits! Except, V magazine tried that last one, and it turns out you can only order the print gimmick edition online. [The Cut]
  • Burberry‘s sales rose nearly 31% on last year in the quarter just ended. Particularly high-performing were the “non-apparel” and outerwear categories. So coats, accessories, perfumes and sunglasses, then. [WWD]
  • Armani‘s 2009 sales were down about 6% from 2008. However, in China, the label’s sales rose 32%. [WWD]
