Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani may think that "marriage should be between a man and woman", but he also thinks the Republican Party should "get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states."

Giuliani said he thinks the decision by the New York state Senate to allow same-sex marriages was "wrong," but he said "there are other things that I think are wrong that get decided by democratic vote."

"And now," he said, "we should move on."

"I don't know what the heck the Republican Party wants to do getting involved in people's sexual lives and personal lives so much for," Giuliani continued.

"Stay out of it. And I think we'd be a much more successful political party if we stuck to our economic, conservative roots and our idea of a strong, assertive America that is not embarrassed to be the leader of the world."
