It's safe to say this is a new interpretation of the Rosenbergs, the couple executed in 1953 for alleged espionage, namely, a puppet show created by the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater in NYC. Says creator Vit Horejs, “When I was writing it, I was convinced we would be using marionettes for all these protagonists moved by the machinery of the justice system or injustice system. That would obviously be an easy metaphor.” In addition to the Rosenberg puppets (who meet their end in miniature electric chairs, left) the cast includes live actors and two teddy bears, representing the couple's sons.
