Republican Debate Audience Boos Gay Soldier

Latest

Here’s the lowlight from tonight’s Fox News/YouTube Republican debate: People in the audience booed a soldier who asked the candidates if they’d work to reinstate “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” To top it off, Rick Santorum declared that repealing the ban gave openly gay servicemembers special rights. He said:

I would say any type of sexual activity has no place in the military. The fact they are making a point to include it as a provision within the military that we are going to recognize a group of people and give them a special privilege to and removing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell I think tries to inject social policy into the military …

Wow, this whole time we thought repealing DADT was about giving members of the military basic rights, like allowing them to mention that they have a partner and a children without being kicked out of the service. According to Santorum, those lascivious gays just wanted the right to get it on with their fellow soldiers, any time and any place.
