We know about the trolls and we will try and deal with all of those comments once the system is working properly. They were all bragging about trolling us in a thread over on oppositelock, so it won't be hard to track them down. [jalopnik.com]#trollpatrol(Edit comment)
Did they forget how nice we were during The Big Change, when the Jalops used our Groupthink because their oppositelock was so buggy? Typical. #Groupthink(Edit comment)
I really hate to see the deliberate trolling among the Gawker sites. It's beyond juvenile and it just makes a mess that other people have to clean up. People can say what they want about the people who comment on Jezebel, but I never recall anyone of us organizing a troll attack. (Edit comment)
Is anyone else having trouble with Jez and Gawker using Google Chrome? It freezes for the first two minutes and I have to hit wait twice before I'm able to even hover over anything :( I use a Mac and have never had trouble with these sites before about a week or two ago. Help!
Yeah I've been having the same problems. Seems to be waiting for facebook connect / google plus / google analytics / other privacy nightmares during those couple minutes. #Groupthink(Edit comment)
I suddenly started having MAJOR trouble with Jezebel on Firefox so I switched to Google Chrome and its actually been working better for me now. Still got the same ol' Jezzie kinks though. #Groupthink(Edit comment)
How strange; I've been having major freezing issues the past few days using Safari. I thought it might be related to some of the 'busier' ads (like the Flashdance one?). Clearing the cache and cookies seems to have helped a bit. I hope things get sorted for all the browsers soonish. (Edit comment)
The site was taking FOREVER and even crashing my computer, so I started running it on Firefox so I could use Scriptblock.
It's the scripts. There are several dozen scripts on a page like this, sometimes hundreds of scripts on an ad-heavy page with video. It's out of control. And, of course, the scripts all load before the text does.
The google analytics and market research scripts seem to take the most time, plus the ads. I know that I only get this content for free because Gawker Media makes money off of the site, and I kinda feel bad for using Scriptblocker and "cheating" Gawker out of revenue.
But then, DAMN! I never consented to have them do things that peg my hard drive, track information about me to sell or better choose ads to sell to me, or whatever sketchy things the scripts do because no one even looks at internet ads anymore. If there's a safe, free program that can keep the page from wasting my time and crashing my computer, why do I feel guilty? #Groupthink(Edit comment)
YES! I use Chrome and have been having the same problems.
Basically, every time I navigate to Jezebel/Gawker it freezes up my browser for almost a minute while I sit there annoyed and thinking about how I'm going to have to stop coming here. :( #Groupthink(Edit comment)
What's going on with the sidebar? In both Firefox 6 and Chrome on both Windows Server 2003 and Mac OS X. It looks OK when I initially come to the site but as soon as I click on any of the sidebar links, it shrinks to about 1/10th of the initial height, making it impossible to read through the headlines. #redesign(Edit comment)
I broke Jezebel earlier. I need help un breaking it. I tried editing the comment before it was too late, but it kept redirecting me to YouTube. I have the comment and all the associated info, but have no idea how to actually delete the comment without triggering the whole YouTube redirect.
It's a glitch. No worries. I think the comment is stuck in some weird other dimensions where you can kind of see it but you can't edit it, and trying to access it causes things to freeze up.

oh, and one more thing, I'd love to see the return of the actual @username in comments. I really like the indicating threads by making it gray thing, but sometimes people respond to different peopel within a thread, and it's hard to follow without the @ indication. #redesign(Edit comment)
Hi guys, Thanks for all the fixes (HEARTS) so far. a few issues: 1. Groupthink responses are not threading when the url is blog.jezebel.com/groupthink/forum only when it doesn't have the blog part of the url 2. clicking on a notification is still not consistently directing me to the comment. 3. In my profile, sometimes I see the name of the person who responded to me and sometimes the avatar is blank and it just says @writtenpyramids. 4. Old notifcations randomly show up again after I have cleared them (it would also be great if clearing the notifications would apply across Gawker sites, so that when I clear them on Jez, I don't think I have new responses when I go to Gizmodo, but that's way low on my list of concerns) #redesign(Edit comment)
PS, we should have the missing replies issue fixed on Monday or Tuesday. We're working on having notifications clear for all sites. Unfortunately not an easy fix but definitely something that we'll be doing. It's annoying for me too! #redesign(Edit comment)
Hi Greg, The replies seem to be mostly fixed, except for Groupthink where it is impossible to see more than the top of the thread when clicking on the notification or even the link to a comment itself. Later replies don't show; the only way to see them is to scroll through Groupthink or to go to my profile. Also, the @username indicators are really key for places like Groupthink where people might be responding to multiple people in one thread, especially if the original commenter was looking for advice. Without the @username, the longer threads are super hard to follow. #redesign(Edit comment)
Some suggestions...not sure they go here or somewhere else...or if you even read them.
#1. Commenting on mobile devices. I would love to comment more on stories, but I refuse to look at the monstrosity that is the redesign. I use my iPad or phone to read the stories.
#2. Comments on mobile devices. I want to see all the comments on some stories, not just the ones gawker has decided are the best. You can't enable this option on mobile devices.
#3. Mobile devices. I have heard you are making an iPad version or something. If it is like the redesign for regular browsers with the horrible layout and all the problems, I'm done reading. The mobile site is the only way I'm even able to read some of the stories.
#4. Time loading for mobile devices. Time after time, my phone times out trying to load the front page. At first, I passed it off as my crappy phone, but then I noticed it only happened on gawker sites...so whatever the problem is, FIX it! I can't spend all my time hiding in the bathroom at work waiting for your page to load!
#5. Story quality. I know, this isn't so much redesign as editor problems. Seriously...the quality of the stories and editing has gone dramatically downhill after the redesign. I don't know if its because you're now troubleshooting site problems or with the decrease in readership you just don't care. Either way, it's gotten bad (I notice it, and I am, by far, not a grammar nerd)
#6 Story tags. I'm not sure what you call them, but the nifty words in red (pink?) next to the stories in the new view that tell you what they are (like Snap Judgment, Fashion, Midweek Madness, etc) are way cool. Can we have something similar like that in the mobile version? It helps me know if I should bother opening the story or if its just going to take forever to load and then not show me the picture.
#7. When you post a video (or other things sometimes) on the Saturday Night Social (and other stories) it doesn't show up at all on my iPad. I'm not sure if this is because its a flash video or if its another problem...but if its another problem, can we fix it for the mobile versions?
Whew! I'm done. Sorry its so long, these things have been building up since I can't comment the way I normally view the stories.
The comment reply not working sucks! I'm totally confused by one response and I can't figure out what comment they're replying to. Ugh. #redesign(Edit comment)
+1 on this. I like to review all the stories and then command-click all the stories I'm interested in at once, and that doesn't work here. #redesign(Edit comment)
This combined with the lack of @username in the actual responses makes the comments so hard to use/read! Especially in the forums. #redesign(Edit comment)
New notification problem: I'm getting a page that doesn't load anything when I click on the link in notifications (can someone reply to this so I can see if it was a one-time glitch) but I can still see the reply on my profile page, so I know it's there. #redesign(Edit comment)
Yeah, it wasn't a one time thing, but it is a new thing. Clicking on the hyperlink in the notification brings me to this: http:// blog.jezebel .com/|commentLink| which does nothing, I guess because |commentLink| is supposed to be data? (I added spaces in the link above so it wouldn't hyperlink itself) I'm not sure it matters, but I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 and Windows 7 #redesign(Edit comment)
OK, now it's directing me to a random page and the responses are not even showing up on my profile. Argh. Edit: now it shows on my profile; I have no idea what's going on. (Edit comment)
I find that that shows up when you are still in the editing time period of the comment, I think the avatar shows up for everyone else seeing it and it reverts once the editing period is over? That's my theory at least? #redesign(Edit comment)
The comments aren't working for me. I have 3 messages waiting but can only view them in my profile and cannot click the link to get back to the thread on the original story. I can't respond in groupthink either. I'm on firefox 3. something. #redesign(Edit comment)
my notifications keep popping up even when I have cleared the notifications. It gives me the false hope that I got responses when I didn't! How do I stop that? #redesign(Edit comment)
In my view, right now, the horrible right frame thingy is gone - in fact it looks like old jez. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! #redesign(Edit comment)
Thank you thank you thank you for letting me now be able to comment form my iPad...but the site still is really slow and bulky. Babysteps, I suppose. #redesign(Edit comment)
