Rashida Jones Is Your New Relationship Advice 'Expert'

Latest

Rashida Jones and Zosia Mamet are joining Glamour as monthly contributors. While I’m excited — I like Jones and Mamet is fine on Girls — Jones’ column will be about relationships. Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive said in a statement that Rashida will be offering a “one-of-a-kind—a smart graphic-novel-style treatment of the relationship issues women talk to each other about.”

I know it’s probably not a popular opinion, but I’d rather someone in a successful relationship tell me about relationships. Is Jones actually in a long-term relationship with anyone right now or is she still feeling out Colin Jost? From a Glamour press release:

“Love, Rashida” by Jones, with illustrations by Josh Cochran, will focus primarily on relationships between men and women.
“My Zo-Called Life” by Mamet offers her unique perspective on all aspects of life, from friendship and risk taking to why we obsess over fashion. In her debut column in the February issue, “Yeah, I’m Insecure. So What?,” she writes about the importance of accepting your issues and insecurities in order to strengthen your relationships.

It’s unclear whether Rashida will just be musing on relationships or graduating to answering “Dear Abby” letters. But here’s hoping Rashida’s just making a bunch of Celeste and Jesse Forever animated jokes about dating, because other than that, I’m not interested. It’s like Steve Harvey doling out relationship advice as an “expert” — he once had a relationship column in Essence despite his unsavory divorce and new young wife. I’d rather cut my own path or ask someone like Ruby Dee or Leslie Mann about love’s survival tactics. Get some skin in the game Jones, and then you can advise me on the romantic Hunger Games.

ps. Marty Scorsese isn’t impressed either. JK!
