Rainn Wilson's production company has decided to part ways with Vine star Curtis Lepore on an upcoming project amidst backlash regarding Lepore's rape charges from January.

SoulPancake, Wilson's production company is currently developing a scripted show called Hollywood and Vine, about viral Vine personalities trying to make it big in Hollywood. Lepore was to play one of the five lead roles, but according to a Facebook post, (as Hollywood Report reports), that is no longer the case:

After much consideration, the decision was made with Curtis Lepore to mutually part ways on SoulPancake's television project featuring Vine stars. We felt this was the best decision for everyone involved. We wish Curtis all the best in all his future endeavors.

In January of this year, Lepore's ex-girlfriend and fellow Vine star Jessi "Smiles" Vazquez filed rape charges against him, and Lepore took a plea deal instead pleading guilty to felony assault in February. When it was announced that Lepore was joining Wilson's project, there was a huge backlash—five days later, he was dropped.

A smart decision on Wilson/Soulpancake's move.
