Praise Be to the Elusive Chanteuse: Mariah is Coming to Empire

Is today a national Mariah Carey holiday and someone forgot to tell me?

The Grammy-winning singer, actress, Frito Pie chef and J-Lo nemesis was finally honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It took them long enough, but that’s not the only good news. At the ceremony, Lee Daniels announced to the crowd that Mimi will be appearing on Empire’s second season.

The news isn’t too much of a surprise since Carey and Daniels previously worked together on Tennessee and The Butler. “She has certainly proven herself, good lord. Repeatedly,” said Daniels, according to Variety. “I’m very excited to see where she goes on Empire.” Details about Carey’s role were not yet released, but I’m hoping for some sort of dramatic showdown with Cookie.

Carey is the latest to join the long list of stars that will appear on the show, which will be returning on September 23. This shit is gonna be so good.
