I use the generic of Yasmin, Ocella. It has been the only BC I've tried that hasn't made me nutso. It actually improved my pesky premenstrual suicidal ideation. Unfortunately, Bayer also makes the generic. How fucked up is that? It's made in the same factory, with the same ingredients, and just given a different name and price. So, probably same scary problems.

This article comes at an interesting time because I moved across the country and lost my insurance so I have to call my old doctor and beg her to call in the prescription for me. And now, in addition to potential impending loss of the prescription I have to worry that the shit is killing me.
I have to feel ambiguous about this, having had a truly excellent teacher in high school who had had an affair with a student, married her after she graduated, divorced her while I was in high school possibly due to an affair with another student and was recently (as far as I know) seeing someone who graduated a year after me. He was an incredible teacher and made a huge impact in my, and many of my friends' lives. I can't help but filter this through the lens of "What if it were him?"
Actually, vegan B12 supplements are readily available. They are made from bacteria and microorganisms, not insects.
According to this article the parents were not just vegan but distrustful of medicine as well [www.myfoxdc.com] , so I think there is a lot more here than just: OMG Vegans Can't Keep Babies Alive!!!

Lots of totally vegan babies grow up to be totally healthy adults, it just doesn't make the news.

How is this even relevant to the article?

An overweight person or anyone interested in size issues can not go five minutes without hearing either that fat is BAD or that fat people are bad people. That's annoying in and of itself.

But you know what really burns my toast? The "FAT IS OMG SO UNHEALTHY DIDN'T YOU KNOW?" discussions inevitably pop up when weight as a health issue isn't even a topic.

It is not relevant to talk about weight as a health issue or the necessities of weight loss in response to an article about people brawling over being compared to a movie character. It is also not relevant when the article is about finding self love, accepting one's body or about the rampant fat discrimination going on all over society today.

The fact that so many people feel the need to talk about this in situations when it is irrelevant is proof enough to me that it isn't about health. Being so obsessed with fat people's 'health' that you feel the need to bring it up in this context speaks much more about your lack of mental health.
@vicky55: Those I know who spoke highly of it served 15+ years ago. I always wanted to join, but got the distinct impression that I had missed its golden years.
Fabulous blog post on the misuse of the song, "Feeling Good" in Weight Watcher's commercials.

I'm a quiet, easy-going, good listener type and I definitely attract this kind of person.
I hate this. Seriously. I definitely have some hang-ups about weighing more than Mr. Twileen. But you know what? I'm not a dude. I have fat deposited in all sorts of interesting places, and he only gains in his belly. I'm active and I eat well, and he plays video games and forgets to eat lunch. We're different people.

If women were not socialized to hate their bodies they would have better relationships, and that includes ignoring bullshit like this. I'm learning to love me and the more I do, the better my relationship gets.

A thread that had to be shut down by a mod. I'm pretty sure that fits into the definition of trollish behavior.

@piroska: Most of the LJ communities were members only and a lot of them don't exist anymore. There is an encyclopaedia dramatica write up on him:

@mich7988: Thank goodness! That whole kerfuffle was a mess and a half.
I wish this were an isolated phenomenon, but I can hope it might shed light on other cases.

As someone who had the misfortune of becoming ensconced in the Pro-ED communities of LiveJournal in the early aughts, I can tell you that there are many men who seem to get off on "helping" very young girls engage in unhealthy eating behaviors. Are there other Jezzies out there like me who remember the 'Dylan' scandal? A 50 something year old man who managed many ED communities and claimed to help anorexic girls become healthy without giving up on their 'weight goals.' For a small fee, of course.
@Jscoob: educational excellence =/= societal advancement.
If everyone raised their children like this, society would not progress. Adhering to a such a strict, mandated definition of "success" allows no room for innovation. Her daughter can play piano, but with no room to express herself creatively I highly doubt her daughter could ever compose a piece for piano.

Plus, training children in music without allowing them to develop socially? Yeah, that's going to be great when they start looking into joining ensembles.
@envirodesigner: In addition to the above comments, be sure you're sewing on a sturdy table. A tiny wobble on the sewing surface can make even a seasoned seamstress sew crookedly.

If the constitution is to be interpreted in the way this idiot thinks it ought to be, then I propose we stop electing lawyers to interpret it.

Obviously we will need to elect historians, as they will better know the "spirit" of the time in which the law was written. Or perhaps linguists, or etymologists who can tell us the precise meaning of every word as intended at the time it was written.

I know an unemployed college grad or two who would be happy to take his position, seeing as they are far more qualified by his own statements.
@day2night: Me too! Though we appear to be in the minority....
Tempting idea to this size 10.5, EE width footed, shoe lovin' lady.

But no. I'll just continue to gaze lovingly at all the beautiful shoes and enjoy the distances my big ass feet have taken me.
My family has been using amazon wish list for a few years now and I hate it. Yeah, I always get something I kind of want, but nobody thinks about it anymore. Nobody says, "I wonder what twileen would like," they just say, "Oh look, twileen wants a swiss army knife. Hit the buy button and run. Done with twileen, who's next?"
