I saw this on Gawker earlier - and found their snarky tone unnecessary but I realize they cater to a different crowd. I did not expect to see this on Jezebel and written with just as much snark. Kudos, however, for not using the highly misleading headline "Stabbing Your Kids Is Okay Now" as Gawker did.
I don't find acupuncture appropriate for a lot of children, mostly because they would probably be scared since they don't understand what's going on. I am interested in what ages they were looking at, my guess is any age under 18. Obviously, that's a wide range of ages. I believe teenagers should be able to seek this treatment if they believe it is the right course for them.
Acupuncture needles do not go very deep. I have had plenty of what's called "medical acupuncture" treatments - the needles are hair-thin and rarely they cause a tiny bead of blood. There are different types of acupuncture, not just the Chinese method that relies on meridians. Medical acupuncture targets the areas of pain directly. I found great relief through this treatment and it saddens me that ridiculous articles like this will spread misguided beliefs about the treatment. When you have chronic muscular pain - you will try anything. I am happy I found this option. Besides my own experience with medical acupuncture, I have had many friends see great relief from Chinese acupuncture for migraines and stomach issues.
I don't see the relationship - as some have made here between this treatment and "Christian Scientist "treatment" centers". Everyone has a right to their own path to healing and to place harsh judgement on what many are calling a "placebo" is aggravating. At least (when done properly, like any medical procedure - following best practices and standards) it's not causing serious injury or harm.
Not as disconnected as you think maybe. I've known and have worn a poppy around Nov 11th every year since I was born. My parents would donate to the veterans and get the poppy and tie it to my shirt when I was a baby. I feel most families who have older veterans are very aware of this custom.
I know. I have the unlikely combination of a rare Polish surname, that most Poles haven't even heard of and a first name that was popular only in the 80s.
You know, I never believed she was in her teens until these pics. They just made me so sad. She really is a young girl under all that makeup and those two strips of cloth. I find her to be the extreme result of the hyper sexualization that passes as normal these days.
So I saw Anne Hathaway in New York on Tuesday at this cafe I frequent, and I was wondering who the blond bearded dude was. Ah.. Adam Shulman, good to know, I guess. She seems very nice and was nothing but gracious and sweet to anyone who went up to her. I still think she's a terrible actress. The end.
Not judging!! - but this comment made me laugh. 8 - 10 cups of coffee, cigarettes and sugar free Red Bull, but the almond milk substitute for "health reasons". I get ya, but damn if lactose is the last thing to worry about in that unholy combination. ;)
So that's why I did really good yet wasted a lot of my free time. Noted. Hanging out with lazy dudes playing Soul Caliber is bad for your design career.
Agreed. I support most of the draft, I just think taking out some of the rhetoric would help them to be taken more seriously and gain support from the average American.
My major complaint about the protest is the lack of coherent demands. They are doing this through pure democracy, so every night they've been holding general assemblies to figure out official demands. This is their working draft: [nycga.cc]
In my opinion it needs some of the idealist rhetoric cut out. No idea about the NYPD officers. Those arrested tweeted that officers were discussing in front of them what charges to hold against them. Though this obviously can't be confirmed.
