I used to volunteer for Washington State Democrats in Spokane, so while I agree with you that there are some liberals over there, statistics suggest that it ain't many! I've gone door to door out there--people are nice but 70% NOT INTERESTED THANK YOU. Haha.
I call her that, too. You know, Ice- and Coco-T. It's cute.

Her actual surname is Austin, though wiki says she's legally Marrow (Ice's actual surname). She uses Austin for her work, when it requires a full name, evidently.

I feel like gentrification on Capitol Hill is a ship that has been sailing at many knots per hour for a while now...

I know actual artists and actual poor-ish people (and people who are gay!) who live there, but it seems to me that there is a critical mass of relatively well-off white hipsters (and SU students!) up there. I don't think you're getting your neighborhood back, counter-culturalists.

It's discussed in _Outliers_. Part of what he talked about was how the kids of middle-to-upper class parents were more likely to ask questions and get help at the doctor's office, for instance, and to question their teachers and get extra help, whereas the more traditionally obedient children of working-class parents were more likely to struggle on their own and hesitate to ask questions because they understand authority as more absolute. It was really interesting.
Yeah, last night when I saw this starting on my Twitter feed (I just started following Kanye the other day because I find him entertaining) I was kind of delighted. He was self deprecating about his bad spelling/grammar and his persona and he sounded genuinely optimistic about his ability to make a difference. Can't hate on that!
I thought a very scary part of the story was all the tourists who had to be detained in the Paradise visitor's center overnight with police officers to protect them from the guy. They were evacuated this morning "under the cover of darkness" which sounds like the world's scariest shit. One minute you're snowshoeing with your family and the next minute there's a crazy killer in the park and you're hiding in a basement with armed police patrolling around.

It is like a real-life horror movie. I'm glad that he wasn't able to do more damage.

What about finding a class or trainer near her and saying you've been wanting to give it a try and would she be interested in joining you if you go while you're visiting her? Or I found some routines to do at home and did them at my mom's house (when I was staying there--not to be obnoxious) and when she asked about it we had a conversation and I left her the directions when I left. Would those approaches work?
Sort of. I know guys who have been denied for various health things.
SO MANY PEOPLE on the show say they want a house with "character" and then they HATE everything that is unique. They're like, "hm, the ceiling is an interesting shape, but how would I add crown molding?" or "hm, this is an interesting alcove, but is it a good use of space?" Insert me rolling my eyes.
I think "Please Don't Go Girl," which is not exactly R&B but IS awesome would be a nice addition.
I agree. I think if you're putting a new "twist" on the story, the "they're all European in the story!" excuse is obviously irrelevant.
My partner and I text a lot and we talk on the phone somewhat infrequently. We see each other almost weekly though (we're not terribly far apart, really), so it might be different. I have some long-distance friends I email with regularly, just short little notes multiple times a day, which makes us feel like we're actually really into each other's daily routines. This doesn't work for me with my partner as he's not on a computer for most of the day, but a combination of those lower-stakes, lower-attention-level kinds of contact might work well for some couples.
That is the entirety of what I got from listening to this song, too. And if you are doing lazy ass fake rhymes, don't make the music video the lyrics! That reveals your bad song writing abilities!
I saw someone say recently that they really wanted to do the "Bay to Breakers marathon" and I resisted being a total jerk and noting that it is not a marathon, but a 10k. But! I felt that would be rude. So I kept it to myself.
I think the implication of using the term "set point" is that if you're not exercising as much as your body is inclined to, you'd have excess energy and be active somehow. I think you're talking about potential; "set point" seems to refer to a state you'd already be tending toward over time, right? So I'm skeptical that a "set point" makes sense in terms of physical activity, and I agree with you that lots of people have the potential to do more activity than they currently do. But I think those things are counter to the theory of a set point.
I had a similar question. I think, within limits dictated by our own bodies and circumstances, most of us can be more or less active with some commitment and training. When you're adjusting to a new exercise routine, sure, you'll be more tired later in the day. But over time, you'll presumably be able to do more without it making you crash later.
Agreed. You phrased it well, I say. My parents were concerned about me being able to explore my interests, but not to the detriment of our family's time/resources/etc.. And they pretty much never CRITICIZED me, but they did tell me what to do and tell me when I was out of line, as parents ought.
People made me feel special a lot and praised me a lot, but I think that was because I deserved it. So... take that into account.
I don't think so; they (KQMV, which is 92.5) market themselves as the top-40 station that plays "all" the hits (as opposed to 93.3 which plays more rap and 106.1 which plays top-40 mainly minus the rap). Soft rock would be like, 101.5 or 106.9, mostly.
The article, I think, was positing that she would be deliberately toning it down depending on her social circle/ambitions at the time? Her character is supposed to be searching for herself and her role or whatever so it seemed plausible, to someone who hadn't read the book or seen the movie. Ha.
