Sorry for the late reply, but, yes, those Waffle House discrimination cases were pretty much the same deal as the Cracker Barrel stuff. However, in some of the cases, Waffle House won, and got their attorneys' fees reimbursed. However, the suit I was referring to (the one my firm did w/ the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights) was the one in Virginia, where the Waffle House owner ended up settling (indicating that there was a pretty good case against him). BUT, I don't think you need to boycott WH entirely if you really, really love them, because they have some good history too: They were one of the few restaurants down South to welcome civil rights demonstrators back in the 60s. not sure yet. i have a four week trip to india (to cover those funky naxalites!) and another to kurdistan, both after sept 1st, so i'm planning to take a big chunk of the summer off! i have an old friend who lives in beijing now, coming to NYC first week in august, so that's my only firm plan. however, i'm tempted to take a train from london to morocco, but no decisions yet.
