Pretty sure the castle in question(the one in Northumberland) was only used briefly in the first film!
wow, he is a really nasty piece of work! I particularly hate his response to the naked man in the house - way to be a homophobic dick. Seeing a naked man makes him want to 'throw up? seriously? F off.
agree, absolutely. But I think overstatements like 'black people are always in the back' discount and devalue conversations about this issue/problem.
Re: Donna Karen - I havn't seen the whole campaign so based on purely this picture, and on what I know of her fundraising for Haiti, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and say this may be more misguided than racist.

I also think the comment about black people always being in the background, is a little unfair - and untrue. Would I, as a minority myself, like to see more women from minority ethnic groups - black and otherwise - in all forms of media, yes. But is it true to say that black people are always in the background is simply not true. The delicious perfume ad, for example, prominently features Chanel Iman (I think it's her?).

(and yes, I do think the childrens presence in this specific photo is bizarre, unnecessary, and offensive)

I don't know if I agree with that - not being a religious scholar myself, I can't make any sweeping statements - but I know more than one Muslim woman who covers her face and considers it a part of her religious observation. As far as I'm concerned, ones religion and it's requirements are what *they* believe they are. If a woman believes her religion requires her to cover her face, if that is her *belief* I'd be very uncomfortable saying 'no hell no, it's not part of your faith, I know so'. My point is, I don't think we get to say what someone else believes their religion and faith asks of them.
Apparently under Harpers govt, freedom of religion is only afforded to people who arent 'threatening' i.e everyone who isn't Muslim.
Hey Dudes!
Long time no see ! I havn't been around for ages - so thought I'd pop in and say hello! Nice to scroll down and see some familiar 'faces' and lots of new ones. I can't quite figure out the new format, but it seems the general vibe of the place (groupthink, not so much the main page) is still the same as before!

anyway, HI EVERYONE. Hope you've all been well! #Groupthink
thats exactly what i wanted to hear. buy me a flat in marylebone, damnit! hehehheheheh #Groupthink
My boyfriend is driving himself (and me) nuts preparing for his PhD funding interview. It's some pretty heavy evolutionary economics stuff involving financial modelling (no idea what that means, I'm a historian ffs!) so I reeeeally can't help him prep.

The question is - how do I keep dude from giving up on the PhD if this funding doesn't work out? He's pretty much decided he's not going to get it, and if he doesn't get it, he isn't applying for it again. He's stood by me and held my hand every time I'v wanted to give up on my horrible PhD (last yr now, fingers crossed), refusing to let me give up, and I want to do the same for him because I know it's what he *really* wants. BUT having slogged through it for 3+ years I know how horrible it can be, and if the interview process is making him question himself so much, I don't know if I can push him to go through it all over again. We're both at Cambridge so competition for money is incredibly tough, and theres realistically only a 50% chance he gets it (not telling HIM that!)

baahhhh #Groupthink
Oh I don't know how much of this rioting is based on 'need', maybe 'want' but not so much 'need'. I guess I'm coming from a very privileged place in saying this, but I don't think new trainers, LCD TV's, arms full of clothes, mobile phones, and expensive jewellery - some of the things that the looters have been stealing, count as needs. This is a country that provides free healthcare, social welfare, community housing, etc. Things are not great for everyone, there is growing dissatisfaction, but I don't know if I agree that there is desperation enough to explain this kind of indiscriminate destruction, theft, and abuse.
I believe London has not seen this many flashpoints, fires, and destruction since the Blitz! I don't think saying London is under very serious attack, is hyperbole. Just my opinion, though.
I'm sad to say I don't think this is almost over - it seems to be escalating and spreading in all directions at this point. Last night there was a flashpoint in Camden, frighteningly close to where I live in Primrose Hill, which is a fairly quiet, residential area.
Could I ask why you think its an ignorant thing to say? I'm not trying to pick a fight or engage in an argument, just curious..
As a Londoner watching my city being set on fire, I can't help but agree with him (regardless of his race). Really interested to hear (read?) your opinion.
@iClaudius: I agree, but wish you had referred to the child as 'that bastard'. There are so many negative connotations attached to that word - even if you are using it just literally, I think it is unfair to tar and feather a blameless child because of something the parents did.
@cookie monstress: Don't knw about the rest of them, but Giselle is involved in environmental initiatives - something Leo, too, is involved in. shrug.
Isn't Selenena Gomez 18? It says on the website that Bieber is 17.

What the big deal (or weird?) about a 18/17 year old couple giving each other foot massages? These people are two college age people in a relationship. I'm truly missing the 'weird' factor here.

Besides, what's up with referring to them as 'children'? She is an adult. Meh
@Titania: Agree, absolutely. Not every area of research is useful or interesting to everyone - that does not, however, render that research useless.
@egg cream: Umm Take That are one of the best selling groups in Europe and Asia, ever. Their last album for number 1 in dozens of countries and their tour was sold out within minutes..sooo..a lot of people.
@sixiebubs: meh, I think she's kind of a rubbish judge and mentor - never really has anything of consequence to say and is pretty much features either arguing or brown nosing up to Simon.
Hmm, with regards to being able to 'understand' Cheryl Cole's accent - the point isnt to be able to understand what she's saying when you try, the point is to be able to understand without having to put in ANY extra effort - I can't say that's true for me and I'v lived in England (and for many years not very far from where she's from) for several years.

Any sort of effort to understand a foreign judge on a show like American Idol (or X Factor), is just too much effort as far as the general audience is concerned.

Besides, she was convicted of assault and racial abuse so I'll save my sympathy for someone else.
