Sadly, it's not ended for good and is coming back on Channel 9 this year. There was initially a rumour it would be hosted by Kyle and Jackie O, just to make it even more unnecessary and offensive.
I think it probably is- "And in 2010, more than 100 patients in Australia sued Pfizer and Aspen Pharmacare -- the makers of Cabaser and Permax respectively -- over sex and gambling addictions."
I highly recommend it for pregnant women like me who have been scared senseless by TV births and the horror stories that other mothers have told you (only the ones who've had bad labors bother telling me about it).
In Australia, around 97% of women give birth in public hospitals both because it's free, and because this is where the specialist units are. You have absolutely no choice over who you see or who will attend your birth. It's lame and scary, I really don't think it provides a great level of care, and I hate it (I'm due in Feb).
As someone related to two (dead and that I never met) child rapists, I would say that the polarizing issue is that people DO NOT want to talk or think about the issue EVER. Many people would rather pretend its an issue that doesn't exist rather than talk about how bad it is, how to stop it from happening, etc.
That's good to know, because I was so exhausted in the first trimester I could barely move, let alone work or do housework, and everyone keeps warning me that the first few months of having a baby will be so much harder, when I'm not sure it could get any harder.
There's such a huge Libertarian attitude in American culture that you don't see as strongly anywhere else in the world- that it's every person for themselves, and if the weak suffer, well so be it. A large proportion of the country has to be poor in order for the economy to function the way it does, yet those people are absolutely vilified. It makes me have the sads.
Just on the PMS thing, have you considered you might have PMDD? I used to need to up my meds for a week or two every month just to deal with the freak outs, and one of the only things that helped was taking a herb used for hormone balance called Vitex. Getting some sort of hormone balance either medically or naturally can improve life a LOT.
I figured it was as much fatism as racism... Santana making fun of her for eating a sub, her feeling sick from dancing, they made her seem too unfit to dance. Can you imagine if the show made fun of Artie in the same way?
Can we talk about how Mr Schue is a douche? Because yeah, I'm sure the most important thing in every kid's life is winning nationals. Doing their best isn't good enough, he must be an asshole or else they will not win (because I'm sure there's no other, say, really rich schools or performing arts schools with better glee clubs out there). And then the Emma thing. Your partner has severe OCD and doesn't want you to meet her parents. It's definitely all about you, because I'm sure longterm mental illness would have no connection whatsoever to one's parents. You should force her to do something she doesn't want to do, because that will help!
And also, why would you be sending your kid to a crappy, underfunded school in a poor area if you expect them to go to Harvard?
I'm so glad my 12 year old niece is watching Glee and learning what high school is really like! No seriously, what was up with that skirt? And Britney can't sing. And I find "Girls" to be a ridiculously offensive song. Oh wait I get it. They're saying pretty, dumb girls run the world by being sexy, right?
Don't forget he owns his own private island, as well as a yacht so fancy he rents it out for $130,000 a week.
But it must be so, so hard to have to pose for photos even though you're the one signing contracts to accept money for doing a job that includes posing for photos.
A paramedic friend told me that they learnt in university that, in layman's terms, the reason ecstasy makes you so happy is because it accesses your subconscious happy memories, then destroys these memories forever, which is why people who use it a lot end up depressed- they don't have the same subconscious happy memories in there to boost their mood. This is why I always avoided taking it too often. Anyone know anything about this?
I would consider pretending to be a lesbian to be assault, if he had sexual contact before they found out he was a man. Not so much the scuba diver one though :). I'm pretty sure there's been dodginess with drunk girls too. It really skeeved me out when he sat there telling Nora all the ways he had deceived women, and its supposed to be a good thing that he's being honest about it even though he's not saying he's done anything wrong. And pretending he was drunk so he could win this elaborate bet so he could touch Lily's boobs- who stays friends with someone like that?!
What I hate most though is that it makes it look cool and fun and hilarious for men to be manipulative and deceitful in order to get a woman to have sex with them, and I think a lot of young men absorb that and think that not only is this an acceptable way to behave, but that push it further.
... if they do state they consent but do so because they were deceived as to the identity of the actor or the nature or purpose of the act, consent is not legally granted.
And that describes why I feel dirty every time I watch How I Met Your Mother. No one ever calls Barney out on the way he deceives women in order to have sex with them, and I know many men who think that's awesome rather than terrible. I mean, Lily calls him gross but no one points out that he's sexually assaulting women.
