Thanks for that! The moot thing seemed wrong and I was going to look it up.
Not bad, though his article contains an error that always bothers me. He misuses the word "where" when he writes:

"'Whether' expresses a condition where there are two or more alternatives."

"where" is only for places. The correct sentence would use "in which"

Dude - chill! Lots of people wrote about the maintenance costs; I clicked reply on yours b/c there were a few responses. It's all just a conversation. Apologies.
True, but article is only about saved $ in depreciation, not overall costs of owning a luxury car. Probably one of the reasons they depreciate so much is that people who can afford to maintain these cars can afford to buy them new when they have warranties.
Yes, and the mattress thing is evil. They try to sell it like a convenience, but really mattresses just last half as long now as they used to. It was a result of private equity firms taking over the big American mattress companies and squeezing the blood out of them.

I do this with Italian a little. I bought an easily hackable Phillips DVD player for like, $40 bucks. And I got the DVDs via ebay. Of course now, you could probably get stuff via torrents.

And you can watch classics foreign films that have been released in the US. For German you've got a lot of great choices, such as Wenders etc

An easy way to stretch these out and make them slightly more healthful - add vegetables (frozen or fresh). There's alway extra sauce, and I'm always still hungry otherwise.
Good luck finding a two sided mattress. The industry basically stopped making them to maximize profits - a result of private equity firms swooping in.

Weight Watchers works! Am about to get back on a plan, but it really does work. Good for you and good luck!
That was awesome! Thanks!
@kcunning:

1) your link didn't work. Would be happy to read something potentially mean.

2) I'm not JUST trying to profit - I really want this app to make my life better! I spent hours searching for something I could BUY and when I couldn't find it, shifted to "well if can't buy it, could I possibly make it? What would that look like?" hence asking questions and gathering data.

That said, between these answers and taking a cold, hard look at what I've already got going on, I'm starting to see this possible app project as a time-sucking distraction from what I really should be working on. I can get a little "bright shinny keys" when a new idea excites me.

3) Sounds like that manager was a bad manager overall, in addition to not understanding the differences in forms. Maybe she sucked in AV too! I've worked with a lot of lousy producers.

Thanks for taking the time to write. LMB

This is why I'm in information gathering mode. I know enough to know what I don't know. Thanks much.
No apologies whatsoever - this is why I asked. I am meeting a friend who knows a lot for coffee next week. I have experience producing AV projects, know how to collaborate and communicate, but it's a totally different field.
I have an idea for a Mac Desktop Application that doesn't exist, but I wish did, however, I'm no coder. I'm thinking of trying to raise money for via Kickstarter and make it happen: I'd function as the producer and I'd hire a designer & coders. It also might just be too much work.

I'm gathering information about the steps involved - definitely at the beginning stages. Just learned about Omnigraffle last night and the concept of Wire-Frame. Yes, I'm that much of a beginner.

I had a long list of more detailed questions, but think it might be better to just open this up with:

Thoughts? What do I need to know?

No "try before I buy" feature - this drives me nuts about the App Store. Looks nice, but without being able to check it out, it's not happening. Potential lost sale for the developers.
I've found the work ethic and trustworthiness of middle-aged Latina ladies in LA to be impeccable. That said, insurance & liability is less of a concern for me as I'm a renter.
Save your marriage and hire a cleaning lady! Best investment you could make.

And once things are tidy and clean from regular visits, it'll be easier to implement little changes like: "Put dishes in dishwasher"

PS: people keep saying "maid service" I don't know why you'd pay a middle-man at a company when, if you're in a major city, there's probably a large population of domestic workers. Start asking your friends if they have a cleaning person and if so, do they recommend him/her. If their person is booked, odds are she (it's always a she, who are we kidding) knows other ladies who do the same work.

Lifehacker, you know I love you more than puppies and expensive cheese, but this list is pretty lame. I was expecting some cool-ass lifehacker Apartment Ninja %$#@ that I would never have thought of. This list is something a 19 year-old first time renter could come up with at Starbucks 5 minutes before viewing.
My work is creative - if I left my work for when I was tired and running on empty I'd never have a career or get anything done.
