Exactly. I don't think it's an unfair or stupid request, to have the money we pay in taxes actually go to shit that matters, and for there to be more transparency in how that money is divied up. I guess we are on some sort of Jay-Z hate train today? I think it's great to have someone so famous come out and say this.
Right? There are like, tons of people named Jihad all over the world. A minute percentage of them, I'm guessing, want to wage holy war on the masses of non-believers. Naming your son Jihad is NOTHING like naming your son Adolf Hitler.
I had a student (sixth grader) named Jihad last year. His family is Christian, and his mom named both her sons strong names with religious meanings. So, meh, I don't really think this is a big deal. Also I was raised Muslim, though I'm not religious now, and I know plenty of Muslims who are named Jihad, who do not carry around the name as some symbol of Islamist ill will toward the world of non-believers. I guess if you were naming your kid Jihad with the intention of raising him as a psycho fundamentalist Muslim, maybe the name means something kinda shitty. Otherwise...meh.

The family togetherness bothers me the most, but only because the added stress of the togetherness brings out the kinks in everyone's relationships. It's at this time of year that my parents fight or someone says something about not being able to be in the same room as someone else's new girlfriend or...WHATEVER. Everyone goes nucking futs at this time of year. Nasty.
