the dog house makes me feel ill. and i know photoshop jobs shouldn't surprise me anymore, but jon on that cover? yikes.
@greengrey: well, really, athena should have a reserved parking spot in every parking lot. no one would ever mess with that spot. girlfriend was BORN with armor.
@Hidin: i'm so sorry for your loss.
@CurtCole: this is exactly what i came in to say. we went too long being able to just put them and the whole war out of our minds. and i'm still grateful every damn day that my cousin came home safely.
@bangers: well OF COURSE! they needed to keep it EXTRA classy. you can't do that with opacity.
i...i have so many questions about these, and feel they are ALL better left unanswered.
@quatrevingtquatre: defriend! i am a petty bitch sometimes, and have defriended for less. and more, like the time one of my "friends" insisted in his status it was good that tiller finally knew what it was like to die after "killing so many babies"
the second the little girl was on screen, it was all over for me, holding-back-tears-wise. there's nothing quite like a little kid being reunited with a loving mom.
@cupscake: for the love of god, that happened?!?!?!?! i don't even have words. i'm a recovering (recovered?) ED person and i get turned backwards on the scale at the doctor so even i don't know what i weigh. i can't even IMAGINE my weight being displayed as such a basic, defining piece of information about me.
@MilointheMeadow: i guess the difference to me is that semi-nudity is the point of stripping/sex work etc. but is not the point these women are trying to make. but i do see where you're coming from, and for what it's worth, if you believe in equality between the genders, i don't think your idea of feminism *can* be wrong.
@PreposterousHypothesis: completely agreed. it just makes me uncomfortable using that kind of judgment and language on a child. i'm also unclear on why it's ok to call tootie a bitch if it wouldn't be ok to call madison one. spoiled, pampered, self-involved, yes, but bitch? i don't know.
@MilointheMeadow: i don't know if it's really snark so much as a sort of sadness that they may feel they have to wear very little in order to get attention for their cause.
@TubOfTaft: in my family, new babies get a little silver mug with their name and birthday on it, and it's really nice, i think, to see three or four generations of them together. maybe it's just me.
i really, really hope courtney love knew how ironic that tweet was...
@hetaira: i think it's actually a nice solution, if you make it one that makes sense and is nice-sounding. my parents' option was neither of these things ;)
my mom took my dad's name and changed her middle name to her maiden name, but they almost combined the two last names into a brand new one for me. not a hyphenate, a hybrid. i am frequently grateful they decided to pass that option up. the name they'd come up with was not. at. all. pleasant.
@Penny: precisely what i wanted to say, but better put.
@NefariousNewt: yeah. i'm not sure why there has to be some kind of deep dark motivation behind it. can't it just BE?
i'm afraid i will need her to hand over the penguin immediately.
