    My dad does the same thing as yours, i.e. "You do what I say and that's the end of it". He did this to me when I brought a kitten home, fully able to afford/spend time with it. His reasons against it? "I don't WANT it. I SAID SO." Irresponsible on my part, maybe, but then he proceeded to bemoan the fact that I graduated from college in January (I'm 22 as well) and still haven't found a job. In front of three other people.
