I work for a tech startup; we do have an office (I'm currently working from it) and I'm here most of the time, but if I'm not feeling well or have the cable guy coming or something, they're cool with working from home.
ETA: I actually wish I were working from home today; my coworkers are ordering in from this Korean place they love, and I don't know what it is about it* but the smell always makes me sick to my stomach. Time to lock myself in a conference room!

*I love other Korean places, just not this one. Weird.

I like to think of election years as the best time to weed out the assholes from Facebook. Mom and Dad will just get hidden if they post shenanigans (and I'm pretty sure they don't know how to hide me, so they'll get to see my Bleeding Heart statuses. Win-win)! #Groupthink
Yeah, that's how I'm trying to think about it. I'm really annoyed, and he keeps trying to talk to me at work (we're on the same team/sit right next to each other/he's chatty) and I'm like dude, I'm going to have to talk to you all day and for another four hours tonight, can we stop with the random chatting for now? #Groupthink
Really, comments? Double-posting and then cutting off randomly? #Groupthink
I LOVE working from home, and I'm so happy my company gives us that flexibility (as long as it's not abused). My coworkers are great, but I get so much more done when I don't have to change out of pajamas, and when I'm not constantly getting pulled aside for last-minute meetings or random office gossip.
I'm inclined to agree with you, particularly this part: "I would expect the parent to take the high road. By posting this video and shooting up her laptop, he acts just as irresponsibly and childish as she does. By humiliating her, you will create a resentment in her that may last a lifetime."

A lot of teenagers; this is nothing new. She just put it on her Facebook page instead of scrawling it in her journal for her parents to find and read.

That's how I'm trying to think of it - so annoyed. I also don't know what time I'm coming back on Sunday, and won't know until, oh, right before I leave, so he's kinda going to have to be okay with that... #Groupthink
I'm probably being irrational, but I just need to whine for a minute.
I'm driving to my hometown tonight after work, which is a four-hour trip. I actually don't mind this drive, because I get to be alone with my thoughts, something I'm especially taking advantage of now before I give birth in a few weeks.

My coworker was also planning to go to that town this weekend. Yesterday, he jokingly said something about carpooling with me, and I kind of nervously laughed it off. I get a text a few minutes ago asking if he can ride with me, otherwise he was going to fly standby. I said yes because I feel bad making him pay for flights if I'm already heading up there, and he's chipping in for gas, and I guess it'll be good to have someone else in the car if anything happens at night.

But man, I was REALLY looking forward to four hours (each way) of pure, blissful alone time, stopping as often as I want, and not having to think about accommodating someone else, plus it'll be late and I don't want to take a detour to drop someone off, I really just want to get home. I'm also slightly annoyed that he's come across as relying on me saying yes, as the standby flight thing was an afterthought. I'm doing a good deed, right? That's all that should matter?

Ah, good to know! I'm now thinking that a) it's just not that common in our parish, b) we haven't gotten to that part in RCIA, c) my husband clearly wasn't listening well in communion classes ;)
I've got a diaper bag the size of Houston I'm happy to bring for the Jezebel and taco rescue. I love living in Austin, I do love Texas, but holy damn, I don't LIKE Texas most of the time.
I cannot tell you how many times I've gone "...and also with you DAMMIT!" (The "dammit!" is usually silent.)
Did you, by chance, go to a Baptist university in Texas? I've heard a similar story from my undergrad!
I'm not certain how common it is, maybe in some dioceses (dioci? :)) more than others. I'm converting to Catholicism now, have been attending Mass regularly for a year and I haven't seen anyone that I can remember going up to just receive a blessing (I stay in the pew) and my cradle Catholic husband agreed that he's rarely seen it. Clearly it does happen though!
Oh God, I committed the newb sin of commenting on the article, not the *linked* article. Still, it wouldn't have surprised me if it wasn't satire, what with all the Tea Party shenanigans as of late.
I went into this fully expecting to read that it was a lawmaker in Texas. Thanks, Mississippi!

Yep. I've already had to unfollow a few people I thought were decent for being all "Santorum! Fuck yeah!" on Twitter and Facebook.
