I've heard that the actor who plays Joffrey actually is a shit in real life. The casting is a little too perfect.
I haven't seen the Alec Guinness version! I should see if Netflix has it.

The LA Times Image/Style section had a really interesting article on the costumes for the movie a few weeks ago. It's actually what got me interested in seeing the movie in the first place. (I'm not usually into spy movies.) It's definitely worth checking out.

The preview (especially the Marines singing) definitely made it look like a cheese-fest, but it was so much better than expected. The scene where Tom Hardy's character pulls his dad up onto the bed and starts hugging him was really effective. I'm actually getting a little teary just thinking of it! I love special, unexpected little moments like that.
I just had this exact conversation with my sister. I have no interest in MMA and don't normally like fighting movies either, but Warrior was really great. I was so happy that Nick Nolte got nominated for his performance.
I hope Oldman wins too. Tinker Tailor was amazing. It could have been another convoluted, over-stylized spy caper, but Oldman (and a fantastic supporting cast) brought it to another level. I really think it's one of the best spy movies of all time.
I just watched Warrior this past weekend. It was great! It far surpassed my expectations, and I rarely say that nowadays.
Good scoop! (Especially about Scout Willis!) Did you ever get to meet Wes? What was he like?
I'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the suggestions!
I've noticed this phenomenon on Refinery 29 too. Their product recommendations always include, like, $80 Cle de Peau concealer and their "street fashion" features are 25-year-olds in head-to-toe Marc Jacobs.

In a weird way I actually find those kinds of things more offensive than a $10,000 fur coat in Vogue. The fur coat is clearly a fantasy, whereas the $80 concealer is presented as the kind of item I should be able to afford.

I didn't think I could love Andy Dwyer more than when he refused to represent Iceland in Model United Nations because they were the evil hockey team in Mighty Ducks 2, but seeing his enthusiasm for Women's Studies made me realize my love has no limits.
He has a place in my heart as a fellow Game of Thrones superfan.
I am so jazzed about this. I read Great Expectations with my 9th graders and if this comes out during our unit, best believe we will be going on a field trip to see it.
Adele looks fantastic. It's so refreshing to see both her and Melissa McCarthy (on the cover of Entertainment Weekly) adding some body diversity to magazine covers this month.
I like Jonny Lee Miller too, and I never see him in enough stuff. He was great as Mr. Knightley in the most recent adaptation of Emma.
Debbie Pelt is back on V!!!! I knew it was just a matter of time before she relapsed. Even though I don't particularly care for Sookie, I still hate Debbie for trying to kill her last season. I also 100% blame Debbie for getting my precious Alcide involved with this trashy Shreveport pack.
In general, I've found that bottoms tend to run big while tops are more true to size.
I heard it's good, plus it stars Chris "Prince Humperdink" Sarandon. I'm going to rent it this weekend.
I never saw the original!! I have no idea what's wrong with me.
Has anyone else seen Fright Night? I saw it this afternoon and absolutely loved it. It's kind of a cross between Superbad and the Lost Boys, and I mean that in the very best way possible.

Plus, David Tennant spends 90% of his scenes shirtless (and in one instance, wearing what appeared to be black bikini briefs). Doctor Who fans, you know what to do.
