I agree. My mom likes to serve gargantuan portions whenever we have guests. It's kind of hilarious until the cake meant for 20 comes out to eight slices total. And then she'll force everyone to take extra food home, lest they find themselves not stuffed enough after leaving our house.
@quickqueenof: From one Floridian to another, high five!
I do envy anyone who has snow at the beginning of winter, but then I remember that it doesn't go away for months and my envy only lasts about a week anyway. Pass.
@OnlySlightyTrampy: Thanks for the tip! I searched my name and they had my phone number and address listed as well even though those aren't things I give out if I can help it. Promptly submitted a request and got the removal.
Kind of a tangent: This touches on the problem I had with the movie Chloe, and the fact that heterosexual intimacy is the most "valid" (and therefore most damaging in terms of cheating) kind or something.
***Spoiler Alert***
It bothered me that the whole movie revolves around Julianne Moore's character worrying about her husband's infidelity, but when she cheats (with a woman), her husband seems to take it in stride and they get on with their lives. Nevermind the fact that the girl dies and everything. As long as there was no p-in-v, it's cool.
@le monde is rond: Ugh, yeah. I used to like her column, but for a while now she's been too snippy and her unfunny snark seems to be there just get cheap laughs from the readers.
@tinimartini: No problem! If you do end up in the area, you should consider visiting Captiva and Sanibel islands. They're beautiful and worth checking out, even for just a day trip.
@tinimartini: The Florida Keys and the beaches on the Gulf coast tend to have lots of sea life, but I'm not sure about starfish in particular. Definitely tropical though.
@snacktastic: It's the willful ignorance that gets to me. That anyone would think it's a choice because it's "not natural" (to that person) even though there is evidence to the contrary.
@Miss Suka: That's the part that took me by surprise. I already knew that he's homophobic and that his views on mental health are positively archaic, but I can't believe the Bible stuff, he was a science major! As far as I knew, he was also Catholic-bordering-on-agnostic, but like undomesticatedequine said, some people seem get more conservative with age. I really hope it'll pass, I used to enjoy the serious conversations with my dad.
