I'm not sure that just because someone hasn't found a life partner by thirty, there's something extremely wrong with him/her (although, most of the time, there are things extremely wrong with Patti's clients).
Also, if I happened to be partnerless at that age, I know Patti would blame it on my curly red hair, something that in her opinion is a double no no. :(
Attempted suicide in the back room (very sad), but then rebounded by throwing parties with lowlives, one of whom broke into the bathroom I was showering in one time and tried to beat me up while I was naked.
Prop 19 passing would make guidelines murkier and force cops to get involved in minor pot cases they sometimes ignore, probably causing more people to be cited/incarcerated, and not at all safeguarding minorities from unfair policing.
Speaking of ...
Yes, the drug laws are racist, but this passing wouldn't make them better. There would still be a million racist federal drug laws to deal with.
About the cartels: I was simply pointing out the weak points in the main pro-Prop 19 arguments that this would lessen the problem.
And the new possession law will lessen the burden of the "60 thousand" people arrested for "simple possession."
Which is great, because maybe it will help Californians work toward making pot legal without this haphazard Prop.
I wish everybody could have their pot legally, but as a Californian, I don't think this proposition is the best option.
Prop 19 passing would place a higher burden on the state, which would now be responsible for various new laws regarding it (i.e. policing how much marijuana people have and if there are minors within 100 yards of the marijuana, etc.).
Furthermore, a recent LA Times article stated that legalization would have little to no effect on the cartel situation in Mexico ([www.latimes.com] And it is doubtful that any tax revenue would be great, since marijuana would still be illegal under federal law and still illegal to sell in California.
All of this would make the whole situation even stickier, and it seems it would possible be more difficult to smoke if Prop 19 passes.
Finally, Schwarzenegger recently signed a law stating that people found with less than an ounce marijuana would be subject to a small ($100) fine and no other charges (not even a misdemeanor).
So things are looking up for marijuana smokers; I'm just not sure this prop would keep things heading in that direction.
My parents wouldn't let me celebrate Halloween, so when I was 18, I went for my first time. There were some haters, but most people were understanding.
As a Californian, I intensely dislike Meg Whitman. But it's not fair to blame her for the actions of her adult children. Sure, she probably wasn't the greatest influence, but they have to take responsibility sometime.
