Why does Grimlock even transform? So he can have longer arms? He's already walking around and hanging out as is.
I suppose a row of them could look nice in the right room, but I'd rather dirty up my living space with large chunks of actual metal.

Why yes, I am single, how did you know?

(Ugh, this post would make some sense if the picture would post. )

Very nice. Love the 71-74 Satellites.
It really is captivating. I've seen it a half dozen times.
You are good at lists, I applaud that.
1. True, but I'm saying we are all good drivers and we are all bad drivers. It's situational. Some of us are good drivers more often than others, but we only notice other people's bad driving when they are making mistakes, while we notice all the awesome things we do along with our few mistakes.
2. True. There's good audio installation, and there's bad. Is Best Buy bad? (Serious question, I have no idea.)
3. Nope! You can criticize how well something was done (bad wheel fitment, cheap interior paint) but taste, to me, is totally subjective. If you want to see big wheels done right, check out donksnob.com.
4. Sure, it helps, but it's not a prerequisite. Too many car guys like to make car appreciation some exclusive club not open to ignorant plebians, which bothers me. Most of us are more ignorant than we think, especially me.
5. There are situations where a lease makes sense, but yes, most often it is done for the wrong reasons. I was kinda trolling with that one. This argument comes up on The Car Lounge every few months, and there are very good points to be made defending it in certain situations that I am too lazy to look up. Will link if you really care.
6,7. Agreeing is fun, but disagreeing is fun, too.
Bonus point for you, #8!: "CUVs and SUVs are for idiots who are scared of life and offer no practical value. Put your baby in a station wagon, momjeans! That center of gravity will crush the life from your children someday." While I love wagons, that command seating position does have its merits in the city. When I'm pulling out of a sidestreet in my Mustang (super tasteful) I can't see around the parked cars to my left and right, and perform a left turn a bit blinder than I'd like to. Momjeans totally sees everything in her Escape, avoids fiery death.
Agree, I'm not saying deafening bass isn't annoying, and at levels high enough, harmful. Just that setting up audio systems capable of rattling car parts off is a skill. Making it sound good is a whole different skill, but OMG THUNDERBASS is something that can be done well or done poorly.
Or at least one of them to say DUDE YOU JUST FIRED OFF TEN ROUND FOUR INCHES FROM MY EAR WHY WHY WHY.
Reliant, VW, Isuzu, one from each of the Big Three!
Thanks for answering, and you have a pretty cool stable going, this guy is jealous. Is the Reliant the shooting brake model? (Please mock if you feel I've used the term shooting brake improperly.)
And it's not really fair that you have three cars while the baby has to share a car with your wife. But I'm guessing you share the toy cars with them, so it evens out.
JT Money (yes, that's you, Torchinsky): What do you drive?

I know Hardigree is a Volvo 240 guy, but I have no idea as to what cars you, Ray, or Orosz own. The new tall guy rides motorcycles, I think I remember reading.

This is an important question. SUPER IMPORTANT lol jk no kinda serious lol

Eastern Europe, it's got its own thing going on.
1. "No one knows how to drive well but me. They make mistakes because they are all idiots. When I make a mistake, there's a logical explanation that's totally understandable. People are idiots!" Fundamental attribution errors, they never cease to entertain.

2. "Anyone who customizes their car for appearance or audio purposes doesn't know anything about cars and is a moran." Those seventeen subs didn't wire themselves. That Caprice didn't just wake up and decide to accommodate a set of 26" Forgiato wheels because it was feeling chipper. People put in work to make these things happen. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Not to me, but hey, it's their juice.

3. "I have good taste, you have bad taste." It's cool to be opinionated, but you don't have to be a jerk about it. The world moveth not to a lone percussive instrument. Like what you like, that doesn't mean you have to be dismissive of what others enjoy. I'm pretty open minded, and even I can't understand the Texas Slab car style. But I'm not going to attack it. (If anyone can explain Slabs to me, please do. I get that it's showy and loud, but those wheels, WOAH.)

4. "You have to be able to work on cars to really enjoy cars." A deeper understanding of how a car works leads to a greater appreciation, but lil Eggwich powersliding her Barbie Corvette has no idea about the mechanics or physics at work, and could care less. Joy is joy.

5. "Leasing is for idiots." Is leasing often an easier option, and thus not the best option for the consumer? Sure. But it's math, people. Some times it can work for you, sometimes it can't. But it's not inherently evil.

6. "The cars that were around when I was 14-20 are WAY better than anything being made today. And so was the music! I'm not biased or anything, I was just really lucky to come of age in the best seven year period of the last century!" Nostalgia, it's a helluva drug.

7. "You can't work on modern cars, they're just a big computer." No, they are actually composed of a couple computers, and you can totally work on them if you really wish to do so. Granted, it's not as straightforward as pre-80s cars, but it's not impossible.

I could go on, but who really wants to read more than seven points? And I understand these are more fallacies than stereotypes, but seriously, what stereotypes need to die? All of them. Stereotypes are for those that don't want to think and would rather make up their mind about something before they even know what it is. I can respect generalizations, but stereotypes and generalizations are NOT the same thing. Google it if you have to, just please don't bring out the "stereotypes are true lol wut" on me.

It is kind of amazing it isn't offered in auto. I've seen other people talk about manual-to-auto swaps on forums before, but it's pricey, and obviously, a warranty buster. A regular GT won't do 200mph, but you can build one up to have more power than any of us can really handle anyways.
This is the first Jalopnik thread I've ever seen that not only was moved to notawesome, but also had a bunch of posts deleted.

How about that? /Mel Allen voice #notawesome

Wow, you got banned for this. Wow. #notawesome
Jack has mentioned it before too in his posts or comments, I believe.

@Frost: My avatar is probably my best contribution to Jalopnik, if I'm being honest with myself.

You're forgetting Murilee Martin is currently there. And Brendan McAleer, who writes for TTAC, is a longtime, hilarious, Jalopnik commenter. Jack has been a Jalopnik commenter much longer than I have.

TTAC is a good site. I'm not trolling. It may not be as lol-tastic as other sites, some of the news postings may be a bit dry, Jack's stuff my be offputting, but I don't think they sensationalize things, nor that Bertel Schmitt is twisting truths to get under people's skin. Just my opinion. TTAC and Jnik are very different things, and I can appreciate both of them.

@Former Ex...
Judging from his post, it would appear Jack was speaking of his own mother being sick, not someone else's mother.
I check it out from time to time (obviously, as I'm reading it right now.) Not so much to see what people are saying, but rather to see what the editors are suppressing. Most of it the stuff here has been sent to notawesome for very good reason. #notawesome
That is Birdman, he owns a record label. He does own that red Veyron. He also owns the one of a kind concept Exelero which is #3 on this list. Paid 8 million for it, and yes, he knows what it is and won't be modifying it.
Wow I love this game, best thing to come out of that thread.

I think I started reading in early 2008. I got there via a google search on AMC Eagles. I thought for sure my first comments were about AMC Eagles or Pontiac Fieros with MiketheDog and Fuzzy Plushroom, but it seems my first comment was on 4/15/2008 and it was about stupid buses in San Francisco: [jalopnik.com]
Really, my first comment was about that stupid bus?

Also, this was like my fifteenth comment: "Anyone else just buy up as much GM stock as they could afford while it's tanking.
Yes, obviously I'm hoping it's tanking, not just taking a rest before it continues rolling down the hill."
Shit the bed on that! Ford at least rebounded nicely and made up for it, but still, what a bedshitter.
