@SeeKateRun(formerlyktgrrl): Almost everyone I knew in university had either an actual mental health problem (depression, acute panic attacks, etc.) that had to be treated with medication and therapy, or was just anxious all the damn time but didn't seek treatment. It was scary.
@CherrySoda15: I promise you, so many people are in the exact same situation (me, for example, and almost all of my friends). It fucking sucks, I know. We just have to think that it's not our fault and it will get better - you're doing all you can if you keep applying for jobs and stay busy, even if it's with retail work or volunteering. PM me if you need someone to talk to.
@5 ft of fury: I think you're me. I'm surviving on a combination of retail jobs (two), freelance work (a few hours a week) and an internship in my back-up field (unpaid, of course) while I wait to hear from grad schools. I moved back in with my parents after graduation and I would be out on the street if I didn't have that option. I've been applying to professional entry-level jobs since before I graduated and heard absolutely nothing (I promise you, employers, I am qualified to answer your phone calls and do data entry, even with my lowly humanities degree).
The crazy thing is, I'm so busy and work so much trying to juggle all of my part-time commitments and scheduling conflicts that I don't really fit the stereotype of the underemployed recent grad. I generally work 12 hour days, but for no or little money. Essentially, it sucks.
I hope grad school solves some of my problems but... I doubt it will. Nevertheless, I love school & research so it's my next move, hopefully. Good luck with your apps!
OK, come on. The self-satisfaction of everyone involved with Glee has reached "too much" status. YOU'RE NOT CURING CANCER, RYAN MURPHY. And I'm not sure what you're really doing for arts education, either.
@Dancingfrog: Yes, you're exactly right. The talent and stories are definitely there - I'm sure there are even great scripts out there about women, WOC/POC, marginalized groups not including Irish-American boxers, and so on. But the problem is the system.
@Penny: Yeah, it was really good, but I'm not feeling it for Best Picture at the Oscars. I think the best movie-going experience I had all year was Inception. So much WTF.
