I did not know the book had been made into a mini series! I'm so excited. Thank you!
I don't think I am you, but we are obviously kindred spirits.
1. Join the Y.
2. Find a boyfriend. I'm 28 and I've never had one.
3. Find a better job.

Overall, I want to be less of a social phobic weirdo.

It would take me 4 months to make $5000.
As a broke social phobic I hate everything about it. Okay, maybe I enjoy the decorations, but then I think about the fact that I don't have my own place to decorate or the money to do it with and I go back to being depressed.

Bah, humbug.
Yes! I read all 3 in college. Fascinating and heartbreaking. That's around the time I embraced feminism and I'm sure those books had some influence.
Three. I don't like the thought of all that spit swapping.
Aw, they are so cute. Love this.
I finally gave in and watched all two seasons over several weekends. Well worth it.
It's unfortunate that it's all the Mad Men we're going to get this year.
I think it looks great on you!
*applause* So hearted.
This is true! I wish I'd thought of that then!
I was still at it until just now and you are right. He does not get it. Case in point:

"i feel like feminists are trying to get more power to women when they dont really have a deficiency of power. i mean have a lot of sneaky yet powerful ways that control men"

So yeah, I give up. I'm going to go pray to my Scott Fujita shrine and hope a good, feminist man comes my way soon.
Ugh, I'm trying to discuss feminism with someone and in response to my telling him how much less women make compared to men he said this:

"women have other benefits. like they get free entry into clubs sometimes, and the "ladies night" thing many places do. and most girls get reception jobs"
Whyyyyy would you do that? I've run into a woman with facial tattoos a couple of times. They aren't even well done. It's like her 2 year old scratched some shapes onto her cheeks and forehead and she decided to make them permanent.
She has another series set in the same world, 800 or so years later: The Nightrunner Series. It's not as great as Tamir, imo. I really liked the first two books, the third was okay and I haven't tried the fourth because the reviews turned me off it. Have you read The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone? The Curse of Chalion?
Have you read the Tamir Trilogy by Lynn Flewelling? I enjoyed that one. The plot was really interesting. The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie...I've read the first two books and it's pretty good so far. I haven't read them yet, but I recently picked up The Lies of Locke Lamora and The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, both the first books of their respective series.
I usually browse the Literature section of the forums at westeros.org. They have a lot of good recommendations.
