    Hi, Megan,

I'm a new poster/regular reader, and I've been thoroughly enjoying your coverage of the RNC. I'm on the west coast, so I'm late to the table on most of the Sarah Palin discussions, but I wanted to send you some links which I feel show why we shouldn't be focusing on Palin's daughter's pregnancy or any of the other smoke screens. The lady apparently has ties to some of the creepiest factions of the religious right:

Speaking to the graduation class of the Master's Commission @ her wack-a-doodle church: [www.huffingtonpost.com]

    Her wack-a-doodle church:

    Master's Commission trailer:

Sarah Palin => Juneau Christian Center (Assembly of God) => close ties to Christians United for Israel (

    )

    Council for National Policy: [www.sourcewatch.org]

CNP's vetting of Sarah Palin: [www.thenation.com]

There are (admittedly fringe) people out there openly praying for McCain's post-election death so's to usher in an era of theocracy. What's interesting about her talk to MC, is it's couched in phrases like "destiny" and "God's plan" for America and the world; these are not empty phrases but specifically targeted at an audience who believes that the end times are nigh and that it their duty to God to wage a war on earth to help that happen. (See Tom Delay in the CUI clip.)

I know I sound like a moon-bat, but this woman is much more frightening than she's being credit for, and I'm afraid with all this fuss over her daughter and her hockey-momness, she's not going to be called accountable for any of this.

I'm sorry so much of this info is disorganized and messy, but it's a starting point for you all.

Thank you so much for your RNC coverage. (I tried listening on the radio and just. couldn't. do it.) Also, I'm 13 as well and love a good "drilling" joke. Tee hee. Thanks! Get some fucking sleep!

Sorry Megan -- never meant to imply I'd want you swept up in a hurricane. I like you too much. :)

Thanks for the great coverage. I don't know how you can stomach listening to the GOP for a whole week, but thanks for doing so so that we don't have to.

    Megan,

You are a class act. Well done with this Bristol Palin business. It needed to be said and you said it very well. I wish the internet, and society, would follow your lead.

    All my best,
    NoDowd.

Your convention coverage has been phenomenal - you're so thoughtful and insightful. I'm rather politcally stupid at times, and yet I've found all of your articles a pleasure to read and follow. Thank you for keeping me informed!

    Hey, Megan!

I'm a daily Jezebel reader, and you've done an AMAZING job at the DNC!!! As a fair-skinned blonde, when I read about your sunburn I was compelled to write with a never-fail treatment.

FOR YOUR SUNBURN: Mix equal parts olive oil and aloe juice or alcohol-free aloe gel. Apply to sunburn 2-3 times a day. If you refrigerate the mixture, it will solidify like butter, but will feel absolutely amazing- nay, orgasmic, heavenly, sublime on the burn.

A few years ago I got a THIRD DEGREE sunburn (hand to Godtopus) that got progressively worse over the course of 3 weeks, no matter what I tried. A lady I knew recommended this, and my cracked, bleeding, horror-movie burn healed almost completely in less than a week.

Feel better soon. You've been all kinds of awesome.

    -Kate

I caught you on The Current this morning; glad I decided to drive in to work today! Interesting segment, though I missed the end. How did that come about, anyway?

Your Greer post brought up thoughts i had during the Obama/Clinton election where race and gender were pitted against each other. I think that this idea is so damaging and also shortsighted and really needs to be flushed out within feminist discourse. Oppression isn't some zero sum modernist equation and i feel like Greer's (and many others') comments do not explore the complexity of many women's experiences within the intersection of race, class and gender. Anyway, i think it is great that you are creating space for these types of discussions.
