Hey, sorry that I left you hanging, I responded about the lion movie.

In terms of feeling that the post-September 11th sentiment made it difficult to have an opposing position, I hear what you are saying. I would respond that that is how it feels to be a Republican or a Conservative in the current climate. Excepting the 9/11 aftermath, I would assert to you that the pro-Democrat/Liberal sentiment is the predominant one in our country. I know it is in the city in which I live, Chicago.

Please understand that I am not saying this to be patronizing in any way. My ideal would be a world (or a Jezebel even) where we could each own our parties'/candidates' good and bad sides and discuss them freely without censure or opprobrium. I think that, despite our differences, I get what you are saying and believe that you are coming from a moral and thoughtful place. You articulated your differences with me in a more rational way than the person with whom I seemed to be having the most conflict. I didn't wish to continue much further in the thread, but I wanted to let you know that, disagreements aside, I understand where you are coming from.

Thanks for sharing in the 'races' post. I'm always wishing I could see through other peoples brains!

I have a question, I hope you don't mind. Do you see faces in random patterns like the ones in uneven walls, towels or carpet threading?

I have a "rather hyperactive" face detector (the nightmares it gave me) and I always see those patterns. I wonder if they wouldn't be present in a Prosopagnosic brain.

You're welcome!

Just saw your post on the thread about not having/wanting children.
We should be friends!
I feel the same way, I see nothing cute or entertaining about hanging out with children.
Nice to finally see someone else who will admit they DON'T LIKE kids either.

Hi there,

Try Lessing's Canopos in Argos series - a very interesting take on reincarnation and ETs. I recently reread the Golden Notebook, which I remember thinking pretty special back in the day and I was mostly annoyed now with the main character. Lessing may be an acquired taste but, one I think you will like.
