Hey! I passed!!!! I think it was my desire to move back - I wasn't committed to staying here in CA. I was too scared to pass here. How are you doing? Are you sticking through with law school? You can email me - ***********@gmail.com
@honkerburger: Apologize. But maybe there is some legitimate underlying why you got angry that you don't even realize? Maybe it was just his response that escalated things.
@Sed_Quis_Custodiet...: Yup, all you can do is go with water and some pills. Lots of water. And make sure to get out of bed early enough to shower no matter how badly you just want to stay in bed. Showering in the AM is key.
Good luck with the presentation! Knock their socks off :)
Guys, what is going on with Australia? I mean first there was a massive flood then last week was a huge cyclone and this week "Brushfires rage out of control". Is Australia going to be okay? [www.bbc.co.uk]
@voxpulchra: Maybe your mom wanting you to call and acting concerned after missing the weekly phone call is her way of making sure that you know that she still loves you no matter what. As long as you are okay, that is all that matters. Maybe she's just trying to let you know that nothing has changed between you and her. I hope at least. Good luck and hugs.
@missclavel: I was just hoping to either be on a mountain or able to wear a swimsuit. Charleston will still be pretty cold. But I do LOVE Charleston. It has such wonderful charm.
@duetoprivacy: Yeah, that is actually what I was thinking. You can find super cheap flights for like $150-200rt down there. I was thinking rent a car and maybe drive down to the keys for the weekend.
I think you might be an attorney, no? I'm taking the bar exam in NY that Tues/Wed so I just want to go somewhere, sleep in, lay on the beach, go swimming, eat drink and be merry. RELAX. Drive to a small town, wake up early, snowboard all day, go to bed early... eh, it doesn't sound as fun. Or maybe I'm just being stupid because Wisp, Maryland isn't exactly Aspen (where he is now) and I'm a little jealous. We have a Tahoe trip planned in March so I should shut up (bunch of friends, potential couch crashing type trip - so different too).
Where should we (my boyfriend and I) go guys? I'll be in DC the last week of February and have a somewhat time/money limited reign to do whatever. He thought of drive to western-Maryland, get a cabin and snowboard for the weekend. That sounds great and all but I would realllyyyy love to go to the beach. Miami would be easy but I'm from South Florida and my parents/brother will want to see me and it just won't be the relaxing get away I would like. How come no one flies direct from the DC area to the Caribbean? I'm thinking of not more than $1500 for the two of us including airfare/hotel for 2 to 3 nights. He could probably leave work early Thursday so we could fly out Thursday afternoon and have all day Fri/Sat and most of Sunday. If we do go somewhere south, my one thing is that I don't want to be at a giant Holiday Inn-type family place. I'm taking the bar exam at the end of the month and he... well he was snowboarding in West Virginia for a weekend, then in Maine last weekend, this weekend he's in Aspen so I think based on this unfairness, I have some leeway in how I spend his money. Suggestions?
Any cooler places nearby DC than Wisp that would be cool so I don't have to make him take me to the Caribbean for a 3 day vacation?
@EllsBells: well it's not my first merry-go-round but I didn't pass the first time. Regardless though, NY stopped accepting scores from prior MBE's last July. So I couldnt have transferred it in had I wanted to. My MBE score has never been the problem either, I just can not write I guess. Or I can pick out what is first degree murder but I can't throw up all the elements...something like that. Just memorization.
@EllsBells: Have you taken the bar? I am sitting here right now trying to study civil procedure. Please come shoot me. This is not my first time on this merry-go-round. Though, I'm going for a different state.
@MyDarlingClementine (formerly JessyBessy): Whatever you do, do NOT let kitten drink out of your water glass. You will be looking at no one in your house ever being able to have their own glass of water in a constant state of fear that you left a half empty glass of water on your desk next to your laptop which is likely to be knocked over if the kitten can't fit her head in the glass. It's awful.
@fridaycat.: Yeah. We get paid, the lowest amount he can possibly pay us. Thanks to the state it actually amounted to a couple dollars an hour (on the east coast, your $2.13/hr wage goes almost all to taxes, mine came out to almost $5 sometimes). But the owner also mandated we tip out the sushi chefs. Which is fine, they serve a couple people that sit at the sushi bar. But then the sushi chefs split it with the kitchen staff. Which is against the law because they have no customer interaction. Also, mandating the tip out percent is illegal as well. And if you want to talk about filth- try talking to the sushi chefs. I've seen them cut their nails behind the counter numerous times. Saying something to them only gets me in trouble. So yeah, minimum wage + tipping out 50%. I worked hard because I liked the customers. The owner was a prick. He was racist (wouldn't promote a bus boy to server after 7 years of employment because the kid was Mexican), narsissit who took advantage of people (dear promoted assistant manager-you deserve more than 1 raise in 10 years) and runs the restaurant illegal (he will be getting a copy of my time slips to show when I was entitled to overtime- just to prove a point - after the bar exam however since I need to scan them and email them to him).
@Eve-The-original-sinner: Yup - Tulane. Just for my last year though so it was all upper level small classes, I didn't meet too many people.
The cop sounds like such a dick. From my experience down there that's how cops are - vigilantes with no regards for the actual law. They do what they want and then don't show up to defend their actions. For you it's a good thing but it's not good when they arrest criminals unlawfully who are actually guilty and get off because of the cop's disregard for procedures. ugh.
I'm going to cram for NY the next couple of weeks and try and not thinking about the whole job thing. Hopefully I'll pass but if not, yeah, I'll probably just take DC in July. Hopefully hopefully hopefully I pass and I won't have to take another one though! (you can waive into DC from any state)
@Eve-The-original-sinner: Oh! But I am not the residentdrunk - I've stopped drinking till I'm done with the exam. It's been 11 nights so far though. 20 more days until the exam is over though!
