Nope--I am, sniffle, not in NYC. But I AM in the "Pet Braggers" group and the "Hot Old Man Appreciation Society" group with the same avatar. If you have any trouble finding, let me know and I'll PM you.

Yay for recipes! I'm cookedly inept, but if I can find a good one that has worked in the past I'll definitely swap with you.

i just read "don't let the pigeon drive the bus" to my toddler! haha. it's a good one ("again" she says to me about 5 times and then moves on to another).

Thanks again for the Heifer idea. It's a charity I've always been interested in but had never checked out. I bought Mom a flock of ducks--she's always lived on small farms, and will certainly appreciate the value of livestock!

A (very belated) hello back, fellow Nutmegger!
Am tech challenged. Still gotta ask the kiddies to help Mama with the computer.
I'm in Westport, where are YOU?

And we totally got to hash out that married name issue today! It was like the comments from last night magically became a thread the next day.

If you were cool with changing your last name, more power to you. I don't judge when people do it or don't do it. I got my feathers ruffled, though, when Xavoc said he threatend to call off his wedding when his fiance changed her mind at the last minute and wanted to keep her name. That seemed messed up to me.

The unified family name thing...eh, I dunno. I think kids are cool with their parents no matter what name they have. That said, my mother kept my father's name after their divorce so she and I could always have the same last name, and in retrospect, I'm glad she did.

I loved that dialogue in the FLDS thread about Stabler and the slimey lawyer- SO TRUE. They would definitely show a clip of Stabler at home with his teen daughter going to a dance or something and subsequently he would flip. shit.
