Hi, I had to step away from my computer for a few hours,so I did not see your response about the "homewrecker" comment. Please to check the thread again and read my response to you and Sarah.of. a. lesser.god. Thank you. I did not mean to offend, as I think you will see in my comment. Thanks and have agood one!

I just squealed over your grandfather. Please don't feel weird about that.

I'm very sorry if I came across as being insensitive about getting a worstie. I think it was my feeble attempt at being self-deprecating. My apologies for being so obtuse.

Thanks for sending the recipe twice - you are very kind! I shall definitely make them if the weather improves and the mooted London Jezebels Picnic takes place.

You mentioned raspberry bars on the Valerie Solanas thread and I was intrigued. There are similar things in the UK, but the layering and rolled oats/flour combination was new to me. Anyway, I found a recipe and made some this weekend and, good lord, they are delicious! So, thanks.

Wagamama's is a chain of cheap, fun, modern noodle shops. There's one right by the British Museum, which makes it great for a pre/post museum noshing.

This is a big favourite of mine.

Milk & Honey maintains the pretence of being a members-only bar (which it is after 11pm), but well-behaved non-members are welcome before then - as long as you book in advance - for a maximum of two hours only. The admirable restraint continues in the low-key speakeasy-style decor that seems to have come straight out of the Prohibition era, where the lighting's so dim that you may have trouble reading the menu. But who cares, everyone looks fantastic. Phone to reserve a table.

If you're around Covent Garden, I love this old pub.

    Lamb & Flag
A pub for over 300 years and a fixture on Rose Street for longer, the unabashedly traditional Lamb & Flag is always a squeeze, but no one seems to mind. Character is in short supply around Covent Garden, and this place has bags of the stuff. On tap are draught Young's, Greene King and Courage Best, bottled Budvar and Peroni and a daily menu usually including a ploughman's with a choice of eight cheeses (£5.25), roast beef pork or lamb with all the trimmings (£8.50) and Cumberland sausage with French bread (£5.25). The afternoon-only bar upstairs is 'ye olde' to a fault.

So that's the secret ingredient in the raspberry bars, hmm?

Where are you from? The only person to use "pip" is my grandmother. So I'm guessing Texas or Massachusetts.
