I finally registered for commenting today (yay me) - but nothing I posted seemed to show up. Not sure how long it's supposed to take for approval, but it seems excessive. whatev.

In any case, I was trying to respond to the article on eating disorders within Orthodox Judaism -- I wanted to call attention to a study that I posted and linked to in my comment -- [www.jpost.com] ... Basically, the University of Haifa did an actual scientific study (as opposed to a girl making a film to promote) which found that religious Jewish girls were less likely to develop EDs.

I'm not saying that EDs aren't a problem in the Ortho community (I'm sure they are everywhere, sigh), or that there aren't some Ortho Jewish guys who are pigs. But I don't like the way that the post and article went into "well of course Orthos Judaism makes this prevalent because of X, Y" when the widespread prevalence may not actually be the case. Anecdotal evidence is nice and (especially in the comments) pretty juicy, but I'd rather go with science -- especially when the message is more hopeful.

Not sure when my comments will show up (if at all), and the fairly anti-semitic turn the comments seems to be taking is making it seem less and less likely that anyone will stick around to see it - so I thought I'd try passing it on to you directly in case you'd like to add it to the discussion...
