Yeah, dudes never get emotional.
Oh, that was the worst. Why would anyone think that was a good advertising idea?
Raising kittens. It really should be a career choice! #Groupthink
Keep reminding yourself that YOU can be the person a kid looks to as a model and then is motivated to begin that process of healing. Taking care of yourself is vital in order to be that model. I used to teach MS/HS students and often told kids that is OK to love your biological parents and still feel angry with them. Parents are human. They can make mistakes. The important thing is not to let those mistakes your parents make ruin your life as well. Don't follow the same path.

I had several students really take this to heart and they're now young adults with families of their own. Their family lives are MUCH different. Some days, thinking of them makes the awful of that day more bearable. #Groupthink

I've taught in a small rural district for 17 years. Most of our students are at or below the poverty level (80% on free/reduced food programs as of this year). In addition this area is like living in Little Meth House on the Prairie. In the past 6 weeks I have 5 elementary students who are dealing with having one or both parents in jail on meth charges. I can name a dozen families who are classified as homeless. Last week I had a kindergarten student in tears after lunch because he was still hungry. I could go on but the list is endless.

I believe the first step is realizing you are vulnerable. I regularly take 15 minutes before I leave to decompress. I also do a lot of visualization - imagine putting the issues in a folder then filing that folder in your drawer before you leave for the day. I'm really hard on myself when I dwell on work issues at home. If necessary I'll resort to other tasks that require my complete attention. Sometimes just reminding myself that dwelling on these things will not help is enough.

It gets better with time. #Groupthink

Look on the bright side - there's always Zoya! #Groupthink
Your cousin is doing the right thing by questioning. She's very smart to be doing that so young!

Any church that does not encourage questioning and discussion is in business only to lead sheep. I've always been a religious person even though I wasn't raised in a particular religion. I left Christianity years ago when I had a very specific set of questions that were never answered, and I changed churches 6 times in an effort to find those answers. Years later after moving to Lower Crapovia, I ran across a small Evangelical church entirely by accident. This church was in the middle of a transition and, even though I still didn't consider myself a "believer", I hung around to see what would happen.

This group left the Evangelical organization they belonged to, struck out on their own and QUESTIONED EVERYTHING. It is leading them in a great direction as a result and hopefully others will begin as well. I've never had a more wonderful experience than watching a group of people who had been led like sheep, believing a group of megachurch televangelists' every word, break free and think for themselves without giving up their faith. It has completely changed their lives and totally for the better.

This is what I think Christianity should be about, and your cousin is on a good road. I hope she isn't discouraged enough to give up along the way.

Have you checked out the forums? If you go to the Apple website, you can get there through the support section. They have great search engines to narrow down your possibilities and save you hours of picking through related stuff. I've always found answers there, even if sometimes they weren't the answers I was looking for. #Groupthink
You certainly did do the right thing. Many states have mandating reporter laws that extend to ancillary staff and other adults who interact with students on school property or during school hours. Staff in my state are required to report suspected incidents of neglect, abuse, endangerment or abandonment. I would say this definitely falls under endangerment.

I know the sad feeling well. I'm an elementary teacher (music) and this year had a boy stay after his class for a couple of minutes to tell me all about how both of his parents were arrested the previous night (3 am - drug and weapons charges). He had experienced the terror of a police SWAT team breaking down the door in the middle of the night and he's only 8. I wish that was the only story but I have dozens.

Have you considered the fact that you may be the first adult who cared about what this kid said enough to at least report it? For all you know you could have changed his life. #Groupthink

I'm guessing that he asked for some small bills with his change.
That was my first thought as well. When I was diagnosed with allergies 2 years ago EVERYONE asked me if we were going to turn our 9 outdoors or give them away. Too many were shocked when I said neither - I would take shots twice a week for as long as necessary. I began seeing some of my friends in a different light after that.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with severe allergies, as in I reacted so severely to the ENTIRE base 40 test that they had to use an epi pen. I'd never had allergies and when I had the general test 12 years ago I tested negative on all. My symptoms are what they call level 3 - heart palpitations/rapid change in heart rate, fatigue, nausea, joint pain/swelling and slight fever.

People generally don't believe me when I tell them our 9 indoor cats and greyhound (soon to be 2) don't bother me much at all. The oldest in the group are 15 and the youngest is 14 weeks. I only have problems when one chooses to sleep on my face and I don't wake up until I start to cough. The kitten seems to bother me the most. If I'm away for several days I don't notice any difference.

No, that's a teacher thing. I've been a teacher for 17 years and those buildings are total virus pits. It does get better after a while; your immune system is currently on it's way to being the best it's ever been! #Groupthink
The AFM is not upset with Taylor Swift. They're protesting the decision made by Lionsgate to record the soundtrack overseas, thus enabling them to avoid hiring union musicians in the US. This film is just the latest in a long line of titles that has done the same.
Oh dearie, you are not the only one. I've sworn that if I have to remove the mister's shoes from the bookshelf (!!!) one more time, I'll kill him with them.

Today I've been cleaning out the desk. He's said he was going to do that for the past 2 years but hell, I know it isn't going to happen any more than the garage, which has been cleaned once in the 11 years we've been here. By me, of course.

I've been the only one around here who has worked full time in almost a year and I'm still doing almost all of everything. Lately I've thought about going on strike. No meals, no cleaning, nothing. I'll do no more than he does. Maybe that'll get the point across! #Groupthink

I've only been getting half an hour, but I bought beeswax candles this year so that might be the problem.
The mister and I are musicians so we're working all night tonight at separate gigs. This is a big money day for us and we don't mind working - we don't celebrate the holiday so we may as well work! #Groupthink
This sounds like it might fit you needs:

I've ordered from them often and the quality is truly excellent for the price. A good amount of your money directly benefits these women as well. I've found this a worthwhile charity for sure.

Tomorrow night is a big work night for us, so today momma's gettin' her drink on and searching for bad Netflix movies. Tomorrow I have to cook a bunch of food so the mister's group will have something to eat between gigs tomorrow night/morning and I have 2 gigs of my own in there as well. I'll sleep most of the day on Sunday and make latkes on Monday to celebrate our big payday. #Groupthink
Several cities who had voted to give domestic benefits to their workforce are planning to band together with the ACLU to challenge this law in court. Basically the voters in these cities had passed their own laws long ago in favor of those benefits and now the state says tough shit, you can't do it. One mayor told the press that it is flat-out unconstitutional, as is the EFM procedure (known here as Eff 'Em because that's what it does).
