Hi Ginny, I got sick today, so didnt see your response to the SUV thing.
I know there are good reasons for having them, however, your situation is completely different from mine. I live in San Diego. We have almost no inclement weather ever (unless you count flies, which are everywhere).
There are a couple of things you might consider. One of which is that there are hybrid SUV's. I'm not a big fan of them, but their gas mileage is better.
The other is one nobody really talks about, and that is limiting your plastic use. Plastic is a petroleum product, and one of the biggest uses for them in the past 10 years is for disposable water bottles.
Anyway, I'm sorry to offend if I did.
