As an American in Canada, near as I can tell, they're pretty much conservative Democrats who would just be pleased as punch if they could pull some Bush era malarkey. But it's Canada, so they can't.
The closest Canada has to the Tea Party is Toronto's mayor Rob Ford. Just a taste/paraphrase: let's defund AIDS clinics because, well let's face it, only gays and heroin addicts get AIDS, and who the fuck cares about them?
I just had to kick a really cute boy (who was really into me) out of my apartment. We even had a swift kiss goodnight and everything.
Why am I only comfortable/excited about exploring this non-hetero stuff when I'm in the most stable, wonderful, committed (and hetero) relationship I've ever been in? #Groupthink
@lillymaidissooverlancelot: It was recommended to me a year ago, so I downloaded it and never watched it. Consider that latter half to be soon rectified.
Really? You need an explanation as to why? All of this can be explained with one simple, three-word myth/bit of conventional wisdom/fucked up cultural touchstone:
Last night was my first ballet class, and you know, lots of fun, friendly folks, best possible outcome for a kinda dumpy dude with no dance experience, etc. Point is, I wasn't anticipating being able to walk today what with sore calves (and quads, and hamstrings, and core) and all.
Turns out those things weren't really a problem for walking comfort today. You know what was? Motherfucking bruised balls of my motherfucking feet. Both of them.
SINCE WHEN IS THIS A THING?
Also, any ballerina jezzies, is this a recurring thing, or can you build up a callous or something?
So today I may or may not have volunteered to do something that I know will be bad for me and my general well being solely because of my discomfort around awkward silences.
@Eve-The-original-sinner: No, the fact that they've never actually killed anyone by either direct or indirect actions means that they shouldn't be on a terrorist watch list. That shit is reserved for neo-nazis and seriously violent groups, and still only then the lists are maintained by private groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center - not by any kind of legal body.
The WBC is repugnant and vile in every aspect, but you know what? Putting up with their shit guarantees your own rights in a meaningful and important way. I mean, look at the ACLU; they provide free legal counsel to people who are denied their legal right to publicly protest the fucking ACLU.
All Americans have the same rights. They're Americans. Deal with it.
@UmpteenthSarah: I was there once, and yet I'm still in college. I still don't know if it was a good choice to stay, and my personal situation made it much easier for me to hang in there. And by easier, I mean I managed to overpay for each and every credit while contemplating suicide nearly every step of the way.
I'm still in school, I'm still ashamed, and I'm still not sure if my degree will actually benefit my future career (whatever it may be) in any meaningful way.
But you know what? I'm really, really glad I'm going to get that piece of paper, if for no other reason than I'll actually have suffered for some kind of purpose.
@lizlemonade: No link, but check it: the melting of the polar ice caps affects the gulf stream and other streams and fucks with the large scale distribution of heat. Case in point, the UK should not have as temperate weather as it does given its latitude, but due to the gulf stream it's traditionally been a rainy nation rather than an ice bucket. Now due to global warming, that shit is happening all over the world with all the other ocean currents.
Hence climate shift rather than a general global warming.
