Oscar de la Renta, for the Straight-Up Full-On Class Act in You

It’s easy to overuse words like “elegant” and “sophisticated,” but with Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2014 collection — shown yesterday in New York — what else can you say? These are refined looks, for refined ladies going to special places. No wonder Jackie Kennedy loved de la Renta.

This collection starts out kind of somber or muted — (very wearable) black coats and the like — but soon shifts to Grace Kelly-esque dresses in pretty, saturated colors, ruffle-splosions, and strapless gowns appropriate for red carpets, charity balls and White House dinners. So pretty.
