Last night during the much anticipated Packers-Bears football game, NBC flashed a shot of a lady Packer fan holding up a sign that read "My cheating ex-boyfriend is watching from couch instead." The unusual sign made an instant impression on the audience. I happened to be watching the game in Wisconsin, and, as I rushed to take the above snapshot of this genius, everyone in the room was giving her major props for cleverness. By this morning, her bold move was all over the news! High-five for a game well-played. Deadspin has identified the girl as Annie Wagner. So far the cheating cheesehead's name hasn't been revealed. In last night's episode of Parks And Recreation, Pawnee's resident simpleton decided to kickstart his career and sample a few courses at the local community college. At April's suggestion, Andy tried an introductory guitar class, but decided it was boring, since he's already a achieved success with his band, Mouse Rat. At at Ron's urging, Andy sat in on a science course about lasers. But when Andy discovered that the course was all about theory — and not playing with actual lasers, he declared it to be "one of the most significant bummers of my lifetime." When he chose a course at random, he wound up in an Introduction to Women's Studies class — and they all loved it. Papa Bear Ron saw the thirst for knowledge inside of Andy and presented him with a "Ron Swanson Scholarship" in order to pursue his interest in Women's Studies. Of course, a newfound passion doesn't always mean that you necessarily "get it." Andy kind of made an ass of himself on the first day. Still: 'A' for effort! More »

When NBC announced its midseason lineup yesterday, Community was not on the schedule; it's being set aside to make room for 30 Rock. Spectacularly unfunny snoozefest Whitney will move to Wednesdays, and Chelsea Handler's new comedy, Are you There, Chelsea? — based on her book, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea — will air after that. (Apparently you can't say vodka on primetime TV). 30 Rock will air at 8 on Thursdays, followed by Parks And Recreation, The Office and Up All Night. Though Community has not been cancelled, some worry it may not return. And the general consensus among fans — on Twitter, at least — is that NBC Britta'd the entire situation. Perhaps network execs are attempting to put-together a fun lady-hour of TV by pairing Whitney and Chelsea together. But in doing so, they have shelved one of the most diverse shows on television. Last night's Parks & Recreation featured a good old-fashioned battle of the sexes between girl scouts and boy scouts — or as they're called in Pawnee, the Pawnee Goddesses and the Pawnee Rangers. Each are headed up by Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson respectively, and the two are in competition with each other since the Goddesses began after a little girl was rejected from joining the Rangers. Leslie has been trying to trump the boy's activities ever since, and with fun activities like puppy parties, pillow fights, and a puppet show about the Bill Of Rights set to Miley Cyrus' "Party In The U.S.A." it's not very hard to beat Ron's scheduled sole activity of "Not Getting Killed." This week at the Television Critics Association panel for NBC's The Playboy Club — the new drama set in the 1960s and revolving around Hugh Hefner's infamous Bunny cocktail waitresses — executive producer Chad Hodge said, "Really, the show is all about empowering, and who these women can be, and how they can use their position to get what they want." His comment is a clear indication that this show will not be NBC's answer to Mad Men, as far as accuracy in portraying how these women really lived. The Today show actually sent a reporter — foreign correspondant Michelle Kosinski — to Florence to cover the arrival of Snooki, JWoww, The Situation and the rest. Though one Italian woman expressed disdain for the guidos ("They're full of tattoo. They're drunk. I think they are stupid"), the cast is being followed by a horde of townspeople, just like Colin Firth in Love, Actually. Except much less charming. Can the cameras capture any "reality" of how these kids act in a different country when they're treated like celebrities? Every dinner, club outing and sight-seeing experience is going to be carefully plotted by producers. You can tell, by the way Deena exclaims, "Why am I not allowed to ask?" when they pass a restaurant that they're under some strict rules and instructions, and don't have permission to do much. The whole thing seems like a clusterfuck. Meanwhile, Michelle Kosinski, who patronizingly corrects the mayor of Florence's pronunciation of "Snooki," actually says something to the effect of, "They're not allowed to shoot here, inside the magnificent Uffizi gallery… I'm from Jersey, and we're allowed!" This morning on Today, while Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Willie Geist were outside on the plaza, a man disrupted the show by trying to jump the barriers holding the crowd back and yelling out something like "God's gift to music!" Geist was describing a clip of video at the time, so the cameras didn't catch what was happening, but the audio is frightening. You can hear Vieira shout, "Oh, Jesus!" and then the sounds of a scuffle. Roker says, "Oh, dear!" Apparently NBC security and NYPD took the dude down. We thought heard the word "gun" — scary! But we're wont to freak out like that. Anyhow: Everyone is fine, and you can continue to get your "news" watered-down and cheerful as ever. More »
