Mindy Kaling Tries Out Child Abuse Joke on Good Morning America

On Wednesday, Mindy Kaling stopped by Good Morning America to promote her new Inside Out voice acting role as the emotion “Disgust.” And—well—it was true to character.

In response to a mundane Stephanopoulos comment that the new Pixar flick made audiences feel like they were “inside this 11-year-old girl,” Kaling added, with a sprinkling of disgust, “in a profoundly wholesome way,” which brought a joke about child abuse into a segment that aired before most people had their morning coffee. It didn’t go over well.
