Middle School Bans Phrase 'Hump Day' Because of Goddamn Geico Ad

Latest

Administrators at a Connecticut middle school have banned the phrase “hump day” on school grounds, after students became obsessed with the insurance-shilling hell-camel in the above video. To the amateur eye this story might seem like the work of a bunch of overreacting silly gooses—they’re just words! It’s just a commercial!—but speaking as a person who lives with a 6th-grader, OH MY GOD CONNECTICUT SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS I FEEL YOU SO HARD ON THIS.

It has 15 million hits on YouTube and has become one of the most memorable commercials to date. Use of the “Hump Day” catch phrase from the Geico commercial has gone too far, according to administrators at a Vernon Connecticut school and now students can no longer say “It’s hump day.”
…”Everybody’s walking around in the hallways and saying, ‘Its hump day!’ in that weird voice,” said Brooke Lewis.
The superintendent says some 6th grade boys started using the phrase so much, teachers said it was disruptive. Kids say it doesn’t just happen on Wednesdays, it’s every day.
“Sometimes it’s the counting down to when it is,” said Lewis.
“Ok, that’s getting out of hand, just keep it to Wednesdays and we’ll be all right,” said parent Mick Ruggiero.

I don’t know what it is about kids and that stupid fucking commercial, but my boyfriend’s daughter is absolutely obsessed with it. If nobody stops her, she will literally run around the house saying, “It’s hump day!” in that camel voice for the entire day. It’s like there’s some subliminal code embedded in the sound waves of that commercial that turns ordinary children into unstoppable annoyingness machines.

ALSO WHY DOES A CAMEL HAVE A JOB.

Ugh.

Throw Geico into the sea.
