Could you really enjoy french fries without enduring brussels spouts? First Lady Michelle Obama doesn’t think so.
In fact, the leading Obama on eating clean and exercising regularly recently made the case, to the Associated Press, for falling off the healthy wagon, now and again.
"How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn't live without a little chocolate, a little French fries."
I think she really meant, how could you appreciate chocolate if you never had vegetables, but we'll give her a FLOTUS pass. On Monday, Mrs. Obama delved into her snacking habits while answering questions from kiddie reporters after the White House’s Easter Egg Roll. It was very hard-hitting stuff.
"I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.
Noting that if you are active, you can eat more of what you want, she also suggested drinking copious amounts of water to side-step unhealthy snacking.
"The more water you drink, the less room you'll have for the junk," Mrs. Obama said.
From the mouth of our favorite first lady to the ears of children ... and the adults reading this post. But the real question; how many Cadbury Creme Eggs were eaten during all of this healthy talk? It was Easter Egg Roll after all and these are the last days of happiness for us once-a-year-Cadbury addicts. Just sayin'.
