Michelle Monaghan Battles Motherhood and Afghanistan in Fort Bliss

Ask and ye shall receive: after we wished True Detective’s Michelle Monaghan would stop getting underwritten supporting roles, a trailer for her new movie, Fort Bliss, is out.

Monaghan stars as Maggie (OMG conspiracy!), a soldier who comes back home after a second tour of duty and struggles to reconnect with her son, whom she hasn’t seen in 15 months. Unlike her previous roles, this one almost seems overwritten, with the trailer hinting that everything bad that could happen to a female soldier in Afghanistan has happened to her. Oh well, Monaghan finally gets a starring role to sink her teeth into, and the movie is directed by a woman. Progress!
