• Pioneering knitwear designer Joan Vass, who outfitted Ali MacGraw, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Candice Bergen, has died in Manhattan. Vass majored in philosophy at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and was notorious as a fashion industry provocateur. Recalls her son Jason:
