In “dumb things that exist” news: a “thinspo” Facebook page features Photoshopped images of non-size zero celebs such as Melissa McCarthy, Meghan Trainor and model Tess Holliday. The page, titled Operation Harpoon, describes itself as “a collaborative art project open to interpretation,” and allows amateur Photoshop artists to post their altered works.
Operation Harpoon details a “recent trending surge of pro-obesity and fat acceptance”:
This page aims to only show that being skinny is okay as well! Skinnyshaming is not okay :)
Is it for real? According to Us Weekly, hashtags such as #SkinnyAcceptance and #ThinnerBeauty accompany each of the images. “People that do this kind of stuff will never get it,” Holliday said to Us Weekly. “They need to work on their own issues and why they have so much hate and anger first. It’s disgusting, yes, but I can’t even take them seriously, and no one else should. Honestly, to me, it’s a joke.”
