Irritated by Susan G. Komen For The Cure's anti-choice pandering and anti-truth lying, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced that he stands with Planned Parenthood— by donating $250,000 to the organization. If my tally's correct, that means that since the Komen announcement and with Bloomberg's donation, they've already raised more money than was given by Komen in the first place.
Mayor Bloomberg's donation will operate as a matching gift— meaning, he'll match new donations dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000.
In a statement, he said, "Politics have no place in health care. Breast cancer screening saves lives and hundreds of thousands of women rely on Planned Parenthood for access to care. We should be helping women access that care, not placing barriers in their way."
Amen, Mr. Mayor. Amen.
