At Marc Jacobs' fall/winter 2014 runway show, hundreds of pillowy clouds were suspended from the ceiling; models paraded out robotically in a mix of pastels and neutrals that varied between — and sometimes combined — futuristic minimalism and frothy ethereality.
"We looked at women like Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange," Jacobs told WWD. "Women we admire and respect and who have a sort of strength without any aggressivity, and without it being a discussion about youth." The strength here is in subtlety: a beauty that's less striking and more insidious.
